WIFIX NEX5GO ROUTER – USER MANUAL WiFiX NEXR5GO User Manual Page | 1 This User Manual provides the basics for configuring the WiFiX NEXR5GO router with the WiFiX firmware. In order to obtain the best results, avoid using WiFi to setup the router since you cannot make changes to the WiFi while logged into the router via its WiFi. Equally important, NEVER use the WiFi when updating a router’s firmware. 1. Connect an Ethernet cable from one of the router’s “LAN” ports to the network port on a PC (or Laptop). 2. Plug the 12 Volt power adapter into the electrical wall socket and insert the power connector into the router. The router will then begin its inital powering up process which, on first power up, may take a minute or two to complete. Left Clicking the Network/WiFi Icon on the PC’s lower (right hand) tool bar will show the completion of the initiation process when it changes from “Identifying...” to “Connected”. 3. Open a web browser and type in the routers IP address of 192.168.1.1 and hit enter. Our WiFiX firmware includes WireGuard (VPN) which requires https as opposed http. Therefore, a non private warning may be displayed since the router produces a “self-signed” https security certificate which is completely normal and safe. Different web browsers may display this warning a little differently. In Google Chrome, click on the Advanced button and click on the Proceed to 192.168.1.1 WIFIX NEX5GO ROUTER – USER MANUAL WiFiX NEXR5GO User Manual Page | 2 4. The login console should now appear with the user name of “root”. There is no password set on a new router and/or fresh install of WiFiX firmware so it should be left blank. Click the LOGIN button: 5. Once logged into the router, the Local Time and Time Zone needs to be set. Go to SYSTEM > SYSTEM and click on SYNC WITH BROWSER. Next, select the proper Time Zone from the drop down list then SAVE & APPLY (which must ALWAYS be done for ANY change to a firmware configuration to take effect). WIFIX NEX5GO ROUTER – USER MANUAL WiFiX NEXR5GO User Manual Page | 3 6. Next, go to SYSTEM > ADMINISTRATION > ROUTER PASSWORD and enter your password that is required to access the router’s login console. Then, SAVE & APPLY: 7. To modify the WiFi settings go to NETWORK > WIRELESS select the EDIT button on the WiFi interface (2.4GHz and/or 5GHz) to be modified. This will allow changing the WiFi name (ESSID) and/or WiFi password. WIFIX NEX5GO ROUTER – USER MANUAL WiFiX NEXR5GO User Manual Page | 4 8. On the lower screen GENERAL SETUP tab, modify the WiFiX broadcasting name to whatever name is desired: 9. Click on the WIRELESS SECURITY tab and enter the password (Key) to access the WiFi. Clicking on the icon next to the Key will display the password that was entered. Once completed with all setting, click SAVE & APPLY WIFIX NEX5GO ROUTER – USER MANUAL WiFiX NEXR5GO User Manual Page | 5 10. The above steps are for a general setup of the WiFi. The WiFi Mode, Channels, Width and Power may be manually configured from its default settings. This includes the ability to lock the WiFi to a specifically channel or, by using the Auto channel selection option. 11. To lock the WiFi to a specific Channel, Go to NETWORK > WIRELESS > DEVICE CONFIGURATION > GENERAL SETUP, and select the preferred Channel from the drop-down list. Then, SAVE & APPLY. 12. Repeat Steps 8 through 11 to EDIT the other WiFi Interface as shown in Step 7. 13. After all of the settings are configured, we recommend rebooting the router. Allow the router a few minutes to boot up, stabilize and apply its new configurations. 14. One of the router’s features is the ability to Reset the Firmware to its default settings. This is useful if some of the changes adversely affected the router’s functionality or performance. This reset returns the firmware to its original (default) configuration and removes the password, WiFi and others settings. 15. Go to SYSTEM > BACKUP / FLASH FIRMARE > RESTORE < RESET TO DEFAULTS and click PERFORM RESET: WIFIX NEX5GO ROUTER – USER MANUAL WiFiX NEXR5GO User Manual Page | 6 16. If ever the occasion the WiFiX firmware becomes unstable or corrupt, reloading the WiFiX firmware may be recommended. Go to SYSTEM > BACKUP / FLASH FIRMWARE and CHOOSE FILE to the firmware’s location downloaded to PC and FLASH IMAGE. SPURIOUS RF CONDUCTED EMISSIONS 12.1 Block Diagram Of Test Setup 12.2 Limit Undesirable emission limits. Except as shown in paragraph (b)(7) of this section, the maximum emissions outside of the frequency bands of operation shall be attenuated in accordance with the following limits: (1)For transmitters operating in the 5.15-5.25 GHz band: All emissions outside of the 5.15-5.35 GHz band shall not exceed an e.i.r.p. of −27 dBm/MHz. (2)For transmitters operating in the 5.725-5.85 GHz band(i) All emissions shall be limited to a level of −27 dBm/MHz at 75 MHz or more above or below the band edge increasing linearly to 10 dBm/MHz at 25 MHz above or below the band edge, and from 25 MHz above or below the band edge increasing linearly to a level of 15.6 dBm/MHz at 5 MHz above or below the band edge, and from 5 MHz above or below the band edge increasing linearly to a level of 27 dBm/MHz at the band edge.. 12.3 Test procedure 1. Check the calibration of the measuring instrument using either an internal calibrator or a known signal from an external generator. 2. Position the EUT without connection to measurement instrument. Turn on the EUT and connect its antenna terminal to measurement instrument via a low loss cable. Then set it to any one measured frequency within its operating range, and make sure the instrument is operated in its linear range. 3. Set RBW of spectrum analyzer to 1 MHz with a convenient frequency span. 4. Measure the highest amplitude appearing on spectral display and set it as a reference level. Plot the graph with marking the highest point and edge frequency. 5. Repeat above procedures until all measured frequencies were complete. Report No.: BCTC2104032613-2E No.:BCTC/RF-EMC-005 Page: 65 of 85 Edition:A.3 12.4 Test Result Remark: The measurement frequency range is from 9KHz to the 10th harmonic of the fundamental frequency. The lowest, middle and highest channels are tested to verify the spurious emissions and bandege measurement data. About:26.5GHz-40GHz, The amplitude of spurious emissions which are attenuated by more than 20dB below the permissible value has no need to be reported. FREQUENCY STABILITY MEASUREMENT 13.1 LIMIT Manufactures of U-NII devices are responsible for ensuring frequency stability such that an emission is maintained within the band of operation under all conditions of normal operation as specified in the user’s manual. The transmitter center frequency tolerance shall be ± 20 ppm maximum for the 5 GHz band (IEEE802.11n specification). 13.2 TEST PROCEDURES 1. The transmitter output (antenna port) was connected to the spectrum analyzer. 2. EUT have transmitted absence of modulation signal and fixed channelize. 3. Set the spectrum analyzer span to view the entire absence of modulation emissions bandwidth. 4. Set RBW = 10 kHz, VBW = 10 kHz with peak detector and maxhold settings. 5. fc is declaring of channel frequency. Then the frequency error formula is (fc-f)/fc × 106 ppm and the limit is less than ±20ppm (IEEE 802.11nspecification). 6. The test extreme voltage is to change the primary supply voltage from 85 to 115 percent of the nominal value 7. Extreme temperature is -20°C~70°C. 13.3 TEST SETUP LAYOUT 13.4 EUT OPERATION DURING TEST The EUT was programmed to be in continuously un-modulation transmitting mode. 13.5 TEST RESULTS Report No.: BCTC2104032613-2E No.:BCTC/RF-EMC-005 Page: 75 of 85 Edition:A.3 Temperature: 26 °C Relative Humidity: 54% Pressure: 101kPa Test Voltage : AC 120V/60Hz Test Mode : TX Frequency U-NII-1 (5180-5240MHz) Voltage vs. Frequency Stability V nom (V)120.005180.0048351800.00480.9325 V max (V)138.005180.0068651800.00691.3252 V min (V)102.005180.0110851800.01112.1381 Limits ±20ppm Result Complies T nom (°C) 20 ffc Max.
