BACKGROUND Siemens Mobility, Inc. provides the following installation instructions to be followed by any purchaser or installer of the ZRadio SX and F Device products. WARNING THE PROFESSIONAL INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS IN THIS BULLETIN SET FORTH BELOW SHALL BE FOLLOWED DURING PRODUCT INSTALLATION ALONG WITH ANY APPLICABLE RECORD REQUIREMENTS. II. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS 1) Installation A qualified staff must perform the installation meeting the following criteria: • Due to your technical education, expertise, and experience as well as knowledge of the relevant regulations, you are able to perform the assigned tasks independently and identify potential risks. • You have been specially trained and examined for the assigned work on the described equipment. • The operator has authorized you to perform work on the described equipment in accordance with the standards governing railway signaling and safety systems. a) Fixation of outdoor WiFi patch antenna • The installation of the WiFi patch antenna must be done so that a beam angle of about 30 ° iron-free is maintained. The emission direction should be kept parallel to the signal optics. The antenna vertically mounted with SMA connector. b) Observance of regulations • Observe all safety regulations for your personal safety and for protection of the described equipment. • Also observe the provisions of the operator and the statutory regulations for the prevention of accidents. c) Work rules • Only operate the described equipment if it is in perfect working order. Report any faults which have been detected to the authority or person responsible. • Only conduct the work in such a way that human safety is not compromised, or operation of the described equipment impaired in any way. • Protect yourself! Be careful when working in track areas. Always wear protective clothing when conducting work that may cause injuries. Adhere to the applicable regulations of the operator. • Before performing any work, request or conduct the necessary operational actions in accordance with the relevant railway/operator’s regulations. It is only then that safety facilities may be deactivated. • Fully re-activate the safety equipment once the work has been completed. Check the safety facilities for proper functioning. • Inform staff of possible incorrect action. • Ensure that no unauthorized persons enter the danger zone. 2) Application • The Radio module along with antenna is used for directional transmission and reception of radio telegrams along the line. • The described equipment serves to ensure safe railway operations. It may only be used for the range of applications stipulated by Siemens. • Also observe the operator's rules, regulations, and approvals, etc. of the responsible authorities. 3) Resale Prohibited The ZRadio SX and F device should not be re-sold to the general consumer public. The ZRadio SX and F Device Products are solely sold for industrial rail infrastructure applications and are not intended for use by consumers or the general public. 2 • Sophisticated, Complex, and Specialized Nature of the Equipment. The ZRadio SX and F Device Products is used for directional transmission and reception of radio telegrams along the railway line. The radio module along with the antenna serves to ensure safe railway operations and thus is required to be installed by professional and knowledgeable installers that are employed by either the public transit agency itself or by sophisticated railroad installation contractors that have the experience and knowledge to install these types of devices that are part of larger complex train control systems. • Other Professional Installation Requirements. Siemens furnishes every public transit agency or sophisticated railroad installation contractor installer of the ZRadio SX and F Device Products a detailed product installation instruction manual which specifically outlines that the devices should be installed by professional installers with proper technical education and expertise and following the specific installation instructions set forth in the manual including that the installation of the Wi-Fi patch antenna must be completed such that a beam angle of about 30º iron-free is maintained.
