Users Manual

iTempShield TM User Guide V4 Directions For Use Read these instructions fully before using the iTempShield TM . INDICATIONS iTempShield is a battery-powered wearable thermometer intended for continuous measurement of human body temperature on the upper chest via wireless communication to a smart device application. iTempShield is intended for single-use and for persons older than 5 years in healthcare facilities and home environments. The patient is the intended user of the iTempshield. Note: iTempShield TM is not FDA approved or cleared. C0NTRAINDICATIONS iTempShields are contraindicated for patients who exhibit allergic reactions to Silicon adhesives (tape), Silicone rubber, or Polyester. DESCRIPTION The iTempShield TM is a wearable device that senses body skin temperature and communicates with an app on your smartphone or tablet to calculate your internal body temperature. When the iTempShield TM is connected to your device, it sends all temperature measurements automatically. You can wear an iTempShield TM for up to 60 days and check your current temperature and temperature measurements history at any time. You have the ability to share the data with your clinician if your clinician has established an IDION account. WARNINGS, CAUTIONS, AND NOTES • The iTempShield TM should not be used as the sole basis for diagnosis or therapy decisions. It must be used in conjunction with your physician. • The iTempShield TM should be free of any visible defects, discoloration, or damage. Do not use and ask your physician for another iTempShield TM if any visible defects, discoloration, or damage is present. • No heavy exercise or contact sports when using the iTempShield TM . Exercise may interfere with temperature measurement accuracy. • Avoid extreme heat or cold for more than a few minutes. This could affect performance or accuracy. • When taking a shower, Pat dry the iTempShield TM do not rub aggressively. If adhesive lifts up replace it. • After shower the temperature reading may be lower for several minutes as the chest area is cooler. • You may also remove the iTempShield TM before taking a shower dry off and re-apply. • The iTempShield TM may take up to 20 minutes to reach stable body temperature. iTempShield TM User Guide V4 • If you feel discomfort or pain from the patch or iTempShield TM , contact your doctor. • If you see the following, replace adhesive patch right away: o Adhesive patch’s edges lift easily or curl up more than 3 mm o Sensor or adhesive patch have shifted from their original location • When changing clothes, avoid snagging the iTempShield TM . Wear loose-fitting clothes when possible. • Do not use the iTempShield TM during MRIs, X-Rays, or CT Scans as it may result in physical harm. • Avoid contact with iTempShield TM during defibrillation. • Do not use the iTempShield TM in the presence of flammable anesthetics or other flammable substances in combination with air, oxygen-enriched environments, or nitrous oxide to avoid risk of exposure. • Avoid using the iTempShield TM during electrocautery. • Avoid placing the iTempShield over compromised skin, excessive hair, implants, ports, subcutaneous or dermal fillers or scar tissue, as it may result in incorrect readings. • Do not apply over or near pacemakers to avoid any potential interference from the Bluetooth communication. • The iTempShield TM should not be used near electrical equipment that may affect the shield’s performance. • Check the iTempShield TM site to ensure skin integrity and to avoid damage or irritation to the skin. • Incorrect readings may be caused an iTempShield TM that is not placed on an appropriate application site. • The iTempShield TM placement site should be hair-free, cleaned of debris, and dry before placement. • The iTempShield TM may not reflect the actual body temperature when used on patients undergoing treatments that may alter their normal temperature regulation (e.g., therapeutic hypothermia, antipyretics). • Avoid direct heating or cooling of the iTempShield TM . Localized temperature exposure of the shield may result in no or incorrect readings. • An iTempShield TM that becomes partially dislodged may cause no or incorrect readings. • Rapid or large changes in ambient temperature may cause no or incorrect readings. • Periodically check the iTempShield TM site for proper adhesion to minimize the risk of incorrect or no readings. • Change or modifications that are not expressly approved by the manufacturer could void the user’s authority to operate the equipment. • Do not modify or alter the sensor in any way. Alteration or modification may affect performance and/or accuracy. • To prevent damage, do not soak or immerse the iTempShield TM in any liquid solution. • Do not attempt to sterilize by irradiation, steam, autoclave, or ethylene oxide as it will damage the iTempShield TM . • Do not attempt to reprocess, recondition, or recycle the iTempShield TM . iTempShield TM User Guide V4 • Portable RF communications equipment (including peripherals such as antenna cables and external antennas) should be used no closer than 30 cm (12 inches) to any part of the iTempShield TM . • Keep the iTempShield TM away from electrical equipment that emits radio frequencies to minimize radio interference. Radio interference may result in no or inaccurate readings. • The iTempShield TM does not include an adhesive on the device. Do not attempt to peel away any part of the iTempShield TM and use the specified adhesive patches for application to the body. • Keep the iTempShield TM protected from excessive dust. • If in an environment with a temperature below the operational temperature range specified in the environmental section, ensure the iTempShield TM is covered by warm clothing. • Do not use adhesive other than the one provided with the iTempShield TM unless prescribed by the physician. • Do not swallow the iTempShield TM . • Children should be supervised while using the iTempshield. • Keep the iTempShie…

Application Note AN043 Small Size 2.4 GHz PCB antenna By Audun Andersen 1 KEYWORDS • CC25xx • CC24xx • CC2480 • PCB antenna • USB dongle • 2.4 GHz • Inverted F Antenna 2 INTRODUCTION The PCB antenna used on the CC2511 USB dongle reference design is described in this application note. Even if the antenna presented is for a USB dongle design it can be used in all 2.4 GHz designs, especially where small space is required for the antenna. This application note describes the antenna dimensions, the RF performance and considerations for complying with regulatory limits when using this design. The suggested antenna design requires no more than 15.2 x 5.7 mm of space and ensures a VSWR ratio of less than 2 across the 2.4 GHz ISM band when connected to a 50 ohm source. The IFA was designed to match an impedance of 50 ohm at 2.45 GHz. Thus no additional matching components are necessary. 4.1 Design Goals The reflection at the feed point of the antenna determines how much of the applied power is delivered to the antenna. A reflection of less than -10 dB across the 2.4 GHz ISM band, when connected to a 50 ohm source, was a design goal. Reflection of less than -10 dB, or VSWR less than 2, ensures that more than 90% of the available power is delivered to the antenna. Bandwidth is in this document defined as the frequency band where more than 90% of the available power is delivered to the antenna. Another design goal was to fit the size of the PCB antenna on a USB dongle and to obtain good performance also when the dongle is connected to a computer. 4.2 Simulation IE3D from Zeland, which is an electromagnetic simulation tool, was used to design the antenna. The accuracy of the simulation is controlled by the mesh. An increase of the mesh increases the simulation time. Thus, for initial simulations mesh = 1 should be used. When a fairly good result is achieved a higher mesh should be used to obtain more accurate results. Comparison of simulation and measurement results shows that the measured reflection is between the result obtained with mesh = 5 and mesh = 1; see Figure 2 for details. Figure 2: Comparison of Simulation and Measurements Results SWRA117D Page 3 of 21 Application Note AN043 4.3 Layout and Implementation Small changes of the antenna dimensions may have large impact on the performance. Therefore it is strongly recommended to make an exact copy of the reference design to achieve optimum performance. The easiest way to implement the antenna is to import the gerber or DXF file showing the antenna layout. These files are named IFA_USB.spl and IFA_USB.dxf respectively and are included in the CC2511 USB d…
