User Guide play-i_user_en.indd 18/27/14 3:14 PM IMPORTANT SAFETY AND HANDLING INFORMATION Read the following warnings before you or your child play with DASH and DOT. Failing to do so may cause injury. DASH and DOT are not suitable for use by children under the age of 5. WARNING: To reduce the risk of personal injury or property damage, do not attempt to remove your robot’s shell. No us- er-serviceable parts are contained inside. The lithium battery cannot be replaced. Read all safety information and operating instructions before using your robot to avoid personal injury or damage to property. WARNING: CHOKING HAZARD - Small parts. Not for children under 3 years. play-i_user_en.indd 28/27/14 3:14 PM Small Part Warning • Your robot and accessories have small parts contained within them that may present a choking hazard to small children and pets. Keep your robots and accessories away from them. • If your robot is broken, gather all parts immediately and store them in a safe place away from small children. Flashing Light warning - Seizures, Blackouts and Eyestrain Some people may be susceptible to blackouts or seizures (even if they have never had one before) when exposed to flashing lights or light patterns (e.g., playing games or watching video). If you have experienced seizures or blackouts or have a family history of such occurrences, consult a physician before playing with your robots. Discontinue use of your robots and consult a physician if you experience headaches, blackouts, seizures, convulsions, eye or muscle twitching, loss of awareness, involuntary movement, or disorientation. To reduce risk of headaches, blackouts, seizures, and eyestrain, avoid prolonged use. play-i_user_en.indd 38/27/14 3:14 PM Battery Warning • Your robot contains a lithium battery which is extremely hazardous and can cause serious injuries to persons or property if removed or improperly used or charged. • Lithium batteries can be lethal if ingested or can cause life-altering injuries. If you suspect a battery has been ingested, see a physician immediately. • In the event of battery leakage, avoid contact with skin and eyes. In case of contact with the eyes, rinse copiously with cold water and consult a physician. • If your robot is charging and you notice a suspicious smell or noise or observe smoke around the robot, disconnect it immediately and turn off all sources of heat or flame. Gas could be given off which could cause a fire or explosion. • You are solely liable for ensuring that the lithium battery is used correctly (charging, discharging, storage, etc.). The manufacturer and distributor shall have no liability for injury or damage to persons or property associated with lithium battery use. play-i_user_en.indd 48/27/14 3:14 PM General Safety and Storage Warnings • Operating temperature – 0 to 30° C (32 to 90° F). • Exceeding operating temperature may increase fire risk. • Do not use your robot if it has been broken and the battery is exposed or compromised in any way. Never touch or contact any liquid from the battery or cross wires from the battery to avoid burns, shocks or fire. • Do not attempt to dismantle, pierce, distort, or repair your robot. Doing so may expose batteries or wiring. • Do not place any heavy objects on your robot. Doing so may cause it to break and expose batteries or wiring. • Do not attempt to clean your robot with solvent, denatured alcohol, or flammable solvents. Doing so may damage the surface of your robot, make your robot inoperable, or cause a fire. • Do not immerse your robot in water. Doing so may cause your robot to become inoperable. • Do not put your robot in a microwave oven or pressurized container. Doing so may cause a fire or cause the batteries to explode. play-i_user_en.indd 58/27/14 3:14 PM Charging • Use the supplied USB cable to charge your robots by connecting to only UL and CSA certified power sources under adult supervision. • Power source should be regularly examined for damage to the cord, plug, enclosure and other parts, and in the event of such damage, they must not be used until the damage has been repaired. • Do not charge near flammable materials or a flammable surface (wooden flooring, carpet, etc.) or conducting surfaces. • Do not leave your robot unattended while charging. • Disconnect the USB cable when the robot is finished charging. • Never charge the device while it is hot. • Do not cover your robot while it is charging. • Recharge the battery at a temperature between 0 and 30 degrees C (32 to 90 degrees F). play-i_user_en.indd 68/27/14 3:14 PM Copyrights, Registered Trademarks, and Licenses Copyright © 2014 Play-i, Inc. Analysis Report The Equipment under test (EUT) is a 2.4GHz Bluetooth 4.0 transceiver for a RC Robot (Yana) which is powered by a 3.7V internal rechargeable battery pack. After pairing with iPad/Android device, the Robot can be controlled to generate sound effect, and the LEDs can be light up. Also, the EUT can be communicated with Bo via infra red for game playing. The internal rechargeable battery shall be charged via mini USB port. Antenna Type: Internal antenna Antenna Gain: 2.2dBi Maximum production tolerance: -20 to +4dBm. According to the KDB 447498: Based on the Maximum allowed radiated power of production tolerance was +6.2dBm (i.e. 4dBm + Ant. Gain) in frequency 2.4GHz, thus; Maximum radiated power (EIRP) is 4.14mW (i.e. +6.2dBm), thus; Conducted power = Radiated Power (EIRP) – Antenna Gain So; Conducted Power = 2.5mW. The SAR Exclusion Threshold Level: = 3.0 * (min. test separation distance, mm) / sqrt(freq. in GHz) = 3.0 * 5 / sqrt (2.480) mW = 9.53 mW Since the above conducted output power is well below the SAR Exclusion threshold level, so the EUT is considered to comply with SAR requirement without testing.
