WESTSIDE DISCS SMART UNIT USERS GUIDE FOR HARDWARE VERSION 1.20 1. General Information: Thank you for purchasing the world’s first smart golf disc! To use this Westside smart unit, you need a smartphone that has Bluetooth Smart compatibility. All iPhones starting from 4S are compatible. All Samsung Galaxy Series Android phones are compatible. The smart unit 1.20 can withstand impact, but it should be throw only in an open area without trees, cliffs or other obstacles that could damage the smart disc. It is possible to break the unit by throwing it hard into a tree or into any hard object. 2. Setup: a. Charge the smart disc battery to full capacity by connecting the chip to a micro USB charger. The smart disc unit has a micro USB interface which is only for charging the battery. All information is radio transmitted using Bluetooth smart technology. The battery has 60 mAh capacity and can be charged using a standard micro USB charger (not included). A mobile phone charger will be acceptable to charge the Westside smart disc. b. Download and install the Westside smart unit application to your mobile phone. There are two versions available:  Android version is available at Google Play. If you are using the smart unit for the first time, it needs to be bluetooth-paired with your mobile phone. Press c. Once setup is completed your mobile phones smart unit application shows a list of all your paired smart discs. 3. Recording Data: Press the start button and the smart unit starts the recording. The next 60 seconds are stored into the units memory. You can press the button again to restart the 60 seconds recording in case you were not ready to throw when initially pressing the start button.. Westside smart units memory will be full after 60 seconds of recording. When the time has elapsed, the data is uploaded automatically to your mobile phone which is paired to the smart unit. The recorded flight data is transmitted to your mobile phone only after you have walked close enough to your smart disc for the Bluetooth to sync. The range of Westside smart disc Bluetooth radio range is between 30 and 100 feet. After the upload is completed, press the button again to make a new recodring. 4. Viewing the Data on a Mobile Device: The Westside smart disc application collects a significant amount of data on your throw. Below are screenshots of the app. (software is not yet ready, pictures will appear here later on ) 5. LED Light Indicator: There are three LED lights in the unit. These LEDs are used to indicate possible malfanction situation.  Blue LED blinking slow: Searching for cell phone  Blue LED blinking fast: Paired with Bluetooth device successfully.  Green LED: Unit is charging  Green LED blinking: Unit is fully charged to100%.  Red LED blinking: Battery is low.  Red LED: Device malfunction or general error. Your device may need to be replaced. 6. Legal and Regulatory Information: The Westside Smart unit hardware is licensed to be used only in selected Westside Discs, Dynamic Discs and Latitude 64 models. The smart unit is permanently attached to a disc and cannot be sold separetely. Any changes or modifications not approved by Westside Discs could void the user's authority to operate the equipment Westside smart disc software is licensed for private users only and is free.
