SAFE-DISTANCE Quick Start Guide - USA Contact Reactec support at [email protected] Doc No. 290-197 v1 Page | 1 This is a quick start guide to setup and use the system. For more detailed information and to download the full set of user guides, templates, training videos and other support material click here: http://www.reactec.com/support SAFE-DISTANCE is an added functionality to the Reactec system for monitoring exposure to Hand Arm Vibration (HAV). SAFE-DISTANCE determines the proximity of other wearers based on the signal strength of Bluetooth radio signals from the other devices within its vicinity. The strength of the received signal increases as the distance to the other device decreases. Reactec have determined a threshold that indicates a proximity contact which is probably unsafe. All radio technology can be compromised by certain environmental conditions and in particular the position and orientation of the device antennas relative to the human body and each other. The human body can act as a barrier to radio signals. Therefore, certain configurations will affect the distance at which the signal strength threshold is met, leading to a variance as to when the alert is raised. The wrist worn nature of SAFE-DISTANCE however makes the device much less susceptible to the limitations outlined above. SAFE-DISTANCE’s ability to detect proximity of wearers is less hampered by body blocking than that of torso worn devices or smart phone-based apps which may be carried in a pocket and therefore SAFE-DISTANCE has a greater likelihood of proximity detection. A HAVwear will determine that a proximity contact has been detected should the signal strength indicate that the other unit is close, and the strength of signal is maintained for a configurable length of time. This approach avoids raising false alarms from devices being close for very short periods - such as briefly walking past colleagues. In response to a number of customer requests, Reactec have enabled Cohort and SAFE ZONE functionality within its SAFE-DISTANCE offering. A Cohort facility allows the identification of a small number of individuals to be controlled as a working cohort, meaning that these individuals are allowed to work within close proximity of each other. When in close proximity the individuals will not receive alerts and the time will be recorded separately as cohort time. SAFE-ZONES are used to indicate areas where an individual is not at risk from being in contact with germs as the area has physical barriers to prevent transmission. While such physical barriers may prevent virus transmission, they may allow radio signals to pass through and hence create a false proximity detection. SAFE-ZONE tags allow you to switch off detection of proximity. It should be noted that any device used for social distancing based on Bluetooth is not an accurate or fool-proof measurement system and should only be considered an aid to support implementation of social distancing measures in the workplace. When this mode is enabled, the operator can prevent the HAVwear from detecting TEP HAV risk exposure data at any time. The OFF function is included for customers who are concerned about operators picking up exposure points from non-tool activity such as driving vehicles in rough terrain. The default is set to Disabled, to enable the OFF button: • On the top tool bar, select Data/Project Manager • On the side menu select SETUP > HAV Options • Tick the Enabled box • Click Save Exposure Assessment Type: The majority of HAV reports available with the Analytics software can be viewed as either TEP or SEP or a combination. TEP (Tool Exposure Points) is calculated based on the vibration level programmed in the tool tag. SEP (Sensed Exposure Points) is calculated based on the sensed vibration level with the HAVwear worn on the wrist. It is expected that most organisations would use TEP points initially to assess their Operator’s risk. In situations where an organisation chooses to select SEP data, the HAVwear watches will display SEP points and the exposure risk data reported will be based on SEP points wherever possible. The default is set to TEP, to switch to SEP: • On the top tool bar, select Data/Project Manager • On the side menu select SETUP > HAV Options. • Check the Sensed Exposure Points (SEP) box • Click Save Operator Sign Out Control: A control is available to limit the potential for an Operator to sign out more than one HAVwear within a configurable time period. The default for this control is set to OFF, which makes it possible for any Operator ID Card to be used to sign out more than one HAVwear. An Administrator can set a time period of up to 4 hours during which an Operator ID card cannot be used to sign out a second device. • On the top tool bar, select Data/Project Manager • On the side menu select SETUP > HAV Options • Choose the required time from the drop down menu in the Min Time Between Sign O…

SAR Exclusion Calculation - FCC The calculation is according to the FCC Knowledge Database (KDB) document KDB 447498 D01 General RF Exposure Guidance V06. 14191TR4 7 th July 2021 Page 2 of 3 Section 4.3.1 General SAR Test Exclusion Bands was applied. Section 4.3.1 a) for 100MHz to 6GHz and test separation distances ≤50mm was specifically applied. According to this section the SAR test exclusion thresholds are determined by the following: Threshold= [ 푃(푚푊) 푑(푚푚) ] . √ 푓(퐺퐻푧) Where P is the maximum measured power of the channel including tune-up tolerance in mW d is the minimum test separation distance in mm f is the RF channel frequency in GHz The minimum test separation distance was considered t be 5mm in consultation with Section 4.2.2 Body-worn accessory exposure conditions. 14191TR3 7 th July 2021 Page 3 of 3 This evaluation of the test exclusion threshold is compared to the threshold limit. a. Limit for 1-g head or body worn devices: threshold limit ≤3 b. Limit for 10-g extremity worn devices: threshold limit ≤7.5 Since the device is body worn the limit “a” applies. 1) Worst case output power measurement results (see test report SGS 287370-1): Channel (MHz) Antenna port (dBm) 2402 9.23 2440 8.92 2480 8.65 2) The calculated threshold for test exclusion was determined while using a distance of 5mm, and the results are tabulated in the table below (stand-alone test exclusion in accordance with KDB publication 447498 D01 General RF Exposure Guidance v06, section 4.3.1 a). Channel (MHz) Separation distance (mm) Calculated threshold Threshold limit 2402 5 2.6 3 2440 5 2.4 3 2480 5 2.3 3 Conclusion: The HAVwear Module with BLE meets the exemption limit requirements for test exclusion in a stand-alone configuration.
