Swarm 52 is a Bluetootho and lSA100 measurement transmitter connected to ultrasonic corrosion/erosion monitoring sensors. The sensors are used to monitor metal loss in pipelines and the transmitter is used to simplify data collection for the operator by transmitting the measurements wirelessly to a local automation system or a handheld terminal. Sensorlink has been on the market with corrosion/erosion monitoring products since 2010 but only with wired/cabled data transfer capability. Now Sensorlink want to add wireless functionality to the product to adhere to the growing demand by operators to install such devices applying wireless features. The products are for the professional market where installation and use are performed by dedicated and trained personnel. Sensorlink Swarm AS uses Nemko as our agent to assist in this process but in case there are technical or other questions, we are available at your discretion. It contains one logger and a number of (4 in this case) sensors. The sensors transmit an acoustic pulse which is used to measure the thickness of the tube wall, and then calculate possible corrosion. The device uses 802.15.4 “ZigBee” radio for communication with a central hub for transmission of measurement data to the end user. It also contains a BLE (Blue Tooth Low Energy ) module for service purposes. The BLE module will not be used during normal operation. The ZigBee module is pre-certified by FCC/ICED (see page 1).
