SAFETY AND WARRANTY 1 Safety Information (Do not discard) Read and understand these warnings. Failure to follow them could result in death or serious injury. As with all electrical products, misuse of product or failure to properly follow the instructions may cause overheating, fire or personal injury. Please read the full product instructions before using the Pod. • Pod is not a medical device. It is not designed or intended to diagnose or treat any medical conditions, and you should not use it for these purposes. Consult your doctor for prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of sleep disorders and other medical issues. • Be careful when connecting the Pod’s connector cable, water cord or power cable, to avoid trip hazards. • Do not replace the supplied detachable mains supply cord with an inadequately rated cord. • Do not use with damaged cords. Damaged cords can lead to fire. Do not tuck in, trap, fold, cross or pinch cords or controls between bed slats, mattress or springs, or against walls, footboards or bed frame. • Do not use this product on anyone who cannot clearly understand the instructions and/or operate the mobile app. • The appliance has a heated surface. Persons insensitive to heat must be careful when using the appliance. • Do not use the Pod with infants or children. Death or serious injury could result from the connector cable, water cord or power cable getting around an infant’s or child’s neck during their sleep. 2 • Similarly, if your sleeping habits put you at risk of entangling a bed- side cord or an under-sheet sensor or coils around your neck while sleeping, do not use the Pod. • Do not use the Pod’s heating or cooling feature in combination with analgesic cream. • Pod is not a baby monitor. It will not warn you of any sleeping problems your infant may have. It will not warn you if your infant stops breathing. It will not warn of or prevent sudden infant death syndrome. • Do not dry clean any part of the product. Cleaning liquids may damage the insulation of the heating and cooling element. Improper cleaning or laundering may cause problems with the sensors or cords. To keep clean, cover the Pod with a washable mattress protector and/or bed sheet. • Pod is designed for use with 110-240VAC electrical standards. Do not use with an extension cord. The product may experience increased heat or cool in areas where the product is bunched or folded in use. • Keep all dogs, cats and other pets away from the Pod, especially the cords. This is an electrical appliance that may damage or injure them. • Do not use the Pod on a waterbed, sofa, adjustable or bunk bed. • Do not use another temperature-regulating device in conjunction with the Pod. • Do not wrap the Active Grid layer around your body. Keep it properly installed on the mattress as directed by the setup process. • Do not disassemble the Hub or Active Grid layer. Boost your recovery through personalized bed temperature, health monitoring, and digital sleep coaching. 7 Maintenance Instructions Hub Approximately every couple of months, you will be prompted in the Eight Sleep app to refill the Water Tank. Instructions will be presented in the app, but you can also follow the instructions below for refilling and maintenance. Before starting, we recommend you have these on hand, but you can always add them later: • 16 ounces (473 ml) of 3% hydrogen peroxide. • 1/2 gallon (2L) of distilled water. Instructions: • Remove the water tank from the Hub. • If available, add 16 ounces (473 mL) of 3% hydrogen peroxide to the water tank. • Add distilled water up to the fill line. If not available, use tap water instead. • Secure the lid and place the water tank back into the Hub. • Open the app, and head to Menu > Device Settings > Maintenance > Prime Hub, and tap to begin Priming. • After Priming has completed, remove the water tank and refill it with water and hydrogen peroxide. • Secure the lid and place the water tank back into the Hub. • Now the Hub should be ready for use. It is not water-resistant or waterproof. Use a damp cloth for spills or spot treatment, if needed. • Do not wash the Active Grid layer in a washing machine or by hand, nor dry it in a dryer. Doing so will ruin it and void your warranty. • Do not pour any water or liquids on the Active Grid layer. • Do not put the power cord into water. • Do not iron your Active Grid layer. • Do not dry clean your Active Grid layer. Dry cleaning solvents may damage the wires. • Do not bleach or use cleaning fluids. • Do not use a wringer. • Do not use mothballs or sprays of any kinds. • Do not vacuum. • If you wish to protect the Active Grid, use a thin waterproof mattress protector. If you need to move the Active Grid from one location to another, we suggest draining the water out of it. You will find the Drain Tool (Figure A) inside Box 2, side B, right underneath the Hub. This small plastic tool will empty the water out of the Grid. You can find instructions for doing this inside the Eight Sleep app’s Help section.
