Page 1 / 2 Page 1 / 2 SMART CONTROLLER FOR LUMINAIRES MANUAL EDITION 0.1 ind-manual-gecko-controller-0.1 OEM/INTEGRATORS INSTALLATIONS USER MANUAL The smart controller module is limited to OEM installation only. This smart controller module is mounted inside of the end product only by professional OEM installers. This smart controller module is used in conjunction with the end product’s software, where power and control signal settings may be adjusted only by the OEM within the scope of this application. End users are not permitted to modify or change these settings. This device is intended solely for OEM integrators and must comply with the following conditions: 1) The antenna must be installed such that a minimum separation distance of 20 cm is maintained between the antenna and the user. The pre-approved antenna specifications are listed below: 2) The transmitter module must not be co-located with any other transmitter or antenna. When both conditions are met, no additional transmitter testing is required. However, the OEM integrator remains responsible for ensuring that the final end product continues to comply with all applicable regulatory requirements once the smart controller is integrated. If the integration differs from the two conditions above, or if a non-certified antenna is used, a Class I Permissive Change must be issued. CLASS I PERMISSIVE CHANGE A Class I Permissive Change applies when the OEM’s design review identifies minor deviations that do not affect the module’s RF performance or compliance characteristics. In such cases, the OEM integrator may continue to use the existing FCC and ISED ID authorization grant without additional testing, provided that the design changes are properly documented internally. Typical minor deviations include the use of a non-qualified antenna that is of the same type as an approved antenna, with equal or lower gain and similar in-band and out-of-band characteristics. Generally, no PCB layout modifications are considered minor deviations. If the antenna datasheet does not include sufficient technical parameters to demonstrate equivalency, limited antenna testing may be required to provide supporting data. The OEM integrator must not provide instructions in the end product’s user manual on how to install or remove this RF module. The end user manual for products integrating this module must include all required regulatory information and warnings as shown in this document. If the FCC identification number is not visible when the module is installed inside another device, then the outside of the device into which the module is installed must also display a label referring to the enclosed module. This exterior label can use wording such as the following: “Contains Transmitter Module FCC ID: 2BGU8-SC1NED” When the module is installed inside another device, the user manual of this device must contain below warning statement: Federal Communication Commission Interference Statement This device complies with part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation. This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generate, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, th…

Introduction The GW.48 dual-band 2.4/5.8/7.25GHz RP-SMA(M) mount dipole antenna is designed for superior performance and reliability. With an omnidirectional radiation pattern and excellent efficiency and gain on both 2.4 GHz, 5.8 & 7.125GHz bands. At just 89.5mm in height, the GW.48 is a great smaller form factor solution for Bluetooth® and Wireless LAN networks. The IP67 rated enclosure makes it suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications. The flexible IK05 rated TPEE enclosure is impact resistant and durable and has the added benefit of UV resistance, allowing it to meet the needs of demanding outdoor applications. Upon testing of any of our antennas with your device and a selection of appropriate layout, integration technique, or cable, Taoglas can make sure any of our antennas’ peak gain will be below the peak gain limits. Taoglas can then issue a specification and/or report for the selected antenna in your device that will clearly show it complying with the peak gain limits, so you can be assured you are meeting regulatory requirements for that module. Choosing a Taoglas antenna with a higher peak gain than what is specified by the module manufacturer and enlisting our help will ensure you are getting the best performance possible without exceeding the peak gain limits. Packaging 12 Changelog 13 3 SPE-19-8-086-A www.taoglas.com The Taoglas GW.34 is a 2.4 & 5.8GHz Wi-Fi ® terminal mount dipole antenna. At just 198mm in height and 13mm in diameter, the robust TPEE enclosure can be mounted straight or at right angle to the device with its hinged RP- SMA(M) connector. It is ideal for applications such as Bluetooth®, BLE, ZigBee® and Wireless LAN. The GW.82, designed for superior performance and reliability, has an omnidirectional radiation pattern and extremely high efficiency and gain on both the 2.4 & 5.8GHz bands. Typical applications include: - Smart Home - Gateways/Routers - Connected Agriculture The GW.34 has up to 5dBi Peak making it a cost-effective, high-performing choice for any indoor or outdoor application. Many module manufacturers specify peak gain limits for any antennas that are to be connected to that module. Those peak gain limits are based on free-space conditions. In practice, the peak gain of an antenna tested in free-space can degrade by at least 1 or 2dBi when installed. So ideally you should go for a slightly higher peak gain antenna than mentioned on the module specification to compensate for this effect. This provides you with improved performance. Upon testing of any of our antennas with your device and appropriate layout, integration technique, or cable, we can work with you to make any of our antennas’ perform below the peak gain limits. Taoglas can then issue a specification and/or report for the selected antenna in your device that will clearly show it complying with the peak gain limits. You can be assured that you are meeting the regulatory requirements for that module whilst getting the best performance possible, without exceeding the peak gain limits.
