HomeAware Sensor Product Information HomeAware Sensor Product Description The HomeAware Sensor captures layer 2 data from WIFI and Bluetooth devices (BLE) and transmits filtered data to the cloud for classification and presence detection. The cloud notifies a user of changes via mobile app notifications and makes current and historical state information available via secure APIs to both users and third-party monitoring services. The HomeAware Sensor consists of two system-on-chips (SoCs), each containing a single 2.4GHz multi-protocol radio. SoC-1 supports 2.4GHz 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Low Energy 5 (BLE). SoC-2 supports Bluetooth Low Energy v4.2. The HomeAware Sensor operates in one of three modes: onboarding, device pairing, and normal sensing. In onboarding mode, only SoC #1 is active. Using BLE, the sensor connects to the user’s mobile device for the secure transmission of the home WIFI network SSID and password. While remaining connected to BLE, the radio attempts to connect to the home WIFI network. Upon successful WIFI connection, and communication with the cloud, the BLE link is dropped. In device pairing mode, SoC #2 uses BLE 4.2 to advertise so that a mobile phone can pair with it. SoC #1 uses WIFI to communicate pairing status to the cloud. In normal sensing mode, SoC #1 uses WIFI for sensing WIFI devices as well as communicating with the cloud. SoC #2 uses BLE for sensing Bluetooth devices and send to SOC #1.
