REQUIREMENT 2.1 LIMIT AND CALCULATION METHOD According to 47 CFR § 1.1307(b)(3)(i)(A), a single RF source (fixed, mobile, or portable device) is exempt from RF exposure evaluation if its available maximum time-averaged power is 1 mW or less, regardless of the separation distance. This specific exemption cannot be used in combination with other exemption criteria, except as permitted in paragraph (b)(3)(ii)(A). According to 47 CFR § 1.1307(b)(3)(ii)(A), multiple RF sources are exempt if the available maximum time-averaged power of each source is no more than 1 mW, and a separation distance of at least two centimeters is maintained between any operating radiating structures within the same device. However, if the sum of all multiple sources is less than 1 mW during the time-averaging period, they may be treated as a single source, and the separation distance is not required.
