Rev 1.0 GPRS TELEPHONE SGH-D500 D r a f t v e r s i o n ( 2 00 4 . 0 9 . 1 4 ) FCC RF EXPOSURE INFORMATION In August 1996 the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) of the United States with its action in Report and Order FCC 96-326 adopted an updated safety standard for human exposure to radio frequency electromagnetic energy emitted by FCC regulated transmitters. Those guidelines are consistent with the safety standards previously set by both U.S. and international standards bodies. The design of this phone complies with the FCC guidelines and these international standards. Use only the supplied antenna or one that is approved. Unauthorized antennas, modifications, or attachments could impair call quality, damage the phone, or result in a violation of FCC regulations. Do not use the phone with a damaged antenna. If a damaged antenna comes into contact with the skin, a minor burn may result. Please contact your local dealer for a replacement antenna. Body-worn Operation This device was tested for typical body-worn operations with the back of the phone kept 1.5 cm. from the body. To maintain compliance with FCC RF exposure requirements, use only belt-clips, holsters or similar accessories that maintain at least a 0.59 inch (1.5 cm.) separation distance, between the user's body and the back of the phone, including the antenna. The use of belt-clips, holsters and similar accessories should not contain metallic components in its assembly. The use of accessories that do not satisfy these requirements may not comply with FCC RF exposure requirements, and should be avoided. Vehicle Mounted External Antenna (optional, if available.) A minimum separation distance of 7.9 inches (20cm) must be maintained between a person and the vehicle mounted external antenna to satisfy FCC RF exposure requirements. For more information about RF exposure, please visit the FCC web site at http://www.fcc.gov/oet/rfsafety/ 3 Contents Important safety precautions........................... 7 Unpacking ........................................................ 9 Your phone..................................................... 10 Phone layout ........................................................... 10 Display................................................................... 13 Camera .................................................................. 16 Flash...................................................................... 16 Getting started ............................................... 17 Installing the SIM card ............................................. 17 Charging the battery ................................................ 19 Switching on or off the phone .................................... 21 Using the Keypad Lock feature .................................. 22 Call functions ................................................. 23 Making a call ........................................................... 23 Adjusting the volume ............................................... 29 Answering a call ...................................................... 30 Viewing missed calls ................................................ 31 Quickly switching to Quiet mode ................................ 32 Using the headset .................................................... 33 Selecting functions and options...................... 34 Using the soft keys .................................................. 34 Selecting options ..................................................... 35 Entering text .................................................. 36 Changing the text input mode ................................... 37 Using ABC mode ...................................................... 38 Using T9 mode ........................................................ 39 Using Number mode................................................. 41 Using Symbolic mode ............................................... 41 Options during a call ...................................... 42 Putting a call on hold................................................ 42 Using the speaker .................................................... 43 Call waiting............................................................. 43 Using the Bluetooth headset...................................... 44 Switching on or off the Voice Clarity feature ................ 45 Switching off the microphone (Mute) .......................... 45 Contents 4 Muting or sending key tones...................................... 46 Using Phonebook ..................................................... 46 Sending a sequence of DTMF tones ............................ 47 Using the message service ........................................ 47 Using SIM services................................................... 48 Making a multi-party call .......................................... 48 Using the menus ............................................ 50 Accessing a menu function by scrolling ....................... 50 Using shortcuts ....................................................... 51 List of menu functions .............................................. 52 Call records .................................................... 58 All calls (Menu 1.1)................................................... 58 Dialled calls (Menu 1.2)............................................. 59 Received calls (Menu 1.3).......................................... 60 Missed calls (Menu 1.4)............................................. 60 Delete all (Menu 1.5)................................................ 60 Call time (Menu 1.6)................................................. 61 Call costs (Menu 1.7)................................................ 62 Phonebook .................................................…

EXHIBIT A – Test Results (Cont.) Radiated Restricted Band Measurements §15.205 / §15.209 Special attention is made for the EUT’s harmonic and spurious radiated emission in the restricted bands of operations. The EUT was tested from 9kHz and up to the tenth harmonic of the fundamental frequency of the transmitter using CISPR quasi peak detector below 1GHZ. Above 1 GHz, average measurement was used, using RBW 1MHz – VBW 10Hz and linearly polarized horn antennas. All harmonics/spurs are at least 20dB below the highest emission in the authorized band using RBW = 100kHz. In addition, peak measurements were taken to ensure that the peak levels are not more than 20dB above the average limit. All out of band emissions, other than those created by the spreading sequence, data sequence, and the carrier modulation must not exceed the limits show in Table G-1 per Section 15.209.
