You must not use the drive in any manner other than that specified in this guide. Avoid exposing your eyes or skin to direct or scattered radiation. CAUTION Do not attempt to repair the COMBO drive yourself. Contactyour dealer or local SAMSUNG representative for all repairs.If you make any adjustments or perform any operations otherthan those specified in this guide, you run the risk of exposure tohazardous radiation. WARRANTY Please refer to the Samsung limited warranty statements . Precautions 1. To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not expose this appliance to rain or moisture. 2. Always check each disc for cracks before using it. If there are cracks on the surfaces, especially around the border of thecenter hole, we recommend that you make a copy of the discimmediately and then stop using it. If you continue using thedisc, it will probably develop more cracks and eventually causeirreparable damage. 3. Do not use poor quality discs: From unknown sources Without any copyright Scratched or damaged in any way Safety Precautions . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .2Your COMBO Drive . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .4Upgrading the Firmware Flash Memory . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .5System Requirements . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .5Installing the COMBO Drive . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .5Connecting the Cables . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .6Installing the CD Record Utility . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .8Installing the Device Driver . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .8Setting Up the Device Driver . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .9Using the COMBO Drive . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .10Storing and Cleaning Your Discs . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .10Solving Recording Problems . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .11Recommended Disc Types . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .13Solving Technical Problems . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .14Technical Specifications . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .15 * All product names mentioned in this document are trademarks or registered trademarks of their respective owners. β± Changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliancecould void the userβs authority to operate the equipment 01.SM-308-GB 1/3/02 6:27 PM Page 2 Installing the COMBO DriveUpgrading the Firmware Flash Memory 5 The product firmware can be upgraded by downloading the updated file from thefollowing Web site: http://www.samsungodd.com To install your COMBO drive in the PC, proceed as follows.1 Make sure that the PC is powered off and disconnected from any power source. 2 If necessary, attach a horizontal bracket to both sides ofthe drive. The factors contributing to uncertainties are test receiver, Cable loss, antenna factor calibration, Antenna directivity, antenna factor variation with height, antenna phase center variation, antenna Frequency interpolation, measurement distance variation, site imperfection, mismatching and system repeatability. Based on NIS 80,81, The measurement uncertainty level with a 95% confidence level were applied. 3.3 sample calculation radiated emission The field strength is calculated adding the antenna Factor, cable loss and, Antenna pad adding, subtracting the amplifier gain from the measured reading. The sample calculation is as follows : ERI Electromagnetic research institute 80, JEIL-RI, YANGJI-MYUN, YOUNGIN-CITY, KYUNGGI-DO, KOREA TEL: 82 31 336 1186 FAX : 82 31 336 1184 homepage : This test report shall not be reproduced except in full, Without the written approval. FS = MR + AF + CL + AT -AG MR = Meter Reading AF = Antenna Factor CL = Cable Loss AP = Antenna Pad AG=Amplifier Gain If MR is 30dB, AF 12dB, CL 5dB, AP 10dB, AG 35dB The result (MR) is 30 + 12 + 5 + 10 β35 = 22dBuV/m Conducted emission The field strength is calculated by adding the LISN factor, cable loss from the measured reading. The sample calculation is as follows : FS = MR + LF + CL MR = Meter Reading LF = LISN Factor CL = Cable Loss If MR is 30dB, LISN insertion loss Factor 1dB, CL 1dB The result (MR) is 30 + 1 + 1 = 32dBuV ERI Electromagnetic research institute 80, JEIL-RI, YANGJI-MYUN, YOUNGIN-CITY, KYUNGGI-DO, KOREA TEL: 82 31 336 1186 FAX : 82 31 336 1184 homepage : This test report shall not be reproduced except in full, Without the written approval. 4.
