It is designed and manufactured not to exceed the exposure limits fo r radio frequency (RF) ener gy set by the Feder al Communicati ons Commission (FCC) of the U.S. government. These FCC exposure limits ar e deri ved from the re commendat ions of two expert or ganizat ions, th e Nati onal Counsel on Radi at ion Pr ote cti on and Measurement (NCRP) and the In sti tut e of El ectr ical and El ectro ni cs Engineers (IEEE). In bot h cases, the re commendat ions wer e developed by scient ific and engi neeri ng expert s dra wn fr om industry, government, and academia aft er exte nsive reviews of t he scient ifi c l itera tur e rel at ed to the bi ologi cal ef fects o f RF energy. The exposure limit set by the FCC for wirel ess mobile ta bl ets employs a uni t of measurement known as the Specifi c Absorpt ion Rate (SAR). The SAR is a measure of th e rat e of absorpt ion of RF energy by the human body expressed in uni ts of watt s per kilogram (W/kg). The FCC requi res wirel ess ta bl ets to comply wi th a safe ty limit of 1.6 watt s per kilogram (1. 6 W/kg). The FCC exposur e limit incorpor at es a substanti al margi n of saf ety to g ive addi ti onal pro tection to the publ ic and to account for any vari ati ons in measurements. SAR tests are conducted using standard oper at ing positi ons accepted by the FCC w ith th e ta bl et tra nsmitti ng at its highest certi fi ed power level in al l tested fr equency bands. Al though the SAR is deter mined at the hi ghest certi fi ed power level, the actual SAR level of the tabl et while operat in…
