INTRODUCTION 2.1 General These measurement test were conducted at SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS CO., LTD(SUWON). The site address is 416 Maetan3-Dong, Yeongtong-gu, Suwon City, Gyeonggi-Do, Korea 442-742 The site have 1 Fully-anechoic chamber and measurement facility. Measurement Procedure The radiated and spurious measurements were made Fully-anechoic chamber at a 3-meter test range (see Figure2). The equipment under testing was placed on a wooden turntable 3-meters from the receive antenna. The receive antenna height and turntable rotations were adjusted for the highest reading on the receive spectrum analyzer. The substitution antenna will replace the EUT antenna it the same position and in vertical polarization. The frequency of the signal generator shall be set to the frequencies that were measured on the EUT. The test antenna shall be raised and lowered, if necessary, to ensure that the maximum signal is still being received. The signal generator, output level, shall be adjusted until an equal or a known related level to what was measured from the EUT is obtained in the spectrum analyzer. This level was recorded. For readings above 1 GHz, the above procedure is repeated using horn antennas and the difference between the gain of the horn and an isotropic antenna are taken into consideration. Figure1. INTRODUCTION On July 10, 2003, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) adopted new rules requiring wireless manufacturers and service providers to provide digital wireless phones that are compatible with hearing aids. The FCC has modified the exemption for wireless phones under the Hearing Aid Compatibility Act of 1998 (HAC Act) in WT Docket 01-309 RM-8658 1 to extend the benefits of wireless telecommunications to individuals with hearing disabilities. These benefits encompass business, social and emergency communications, which increase the value of the wireless network for everyone. An estimated more than 10% of the population in the United States show signs of hearing impairment and of that fraction, almost 80% use hearing aids. Approximately 500 million people worldwide suffer from hearing loss. Compatibility Tests Involved: The standard calls for wireless communications devices to be measured for: ƒ RF Electric-field emissions ƒ RF Magnetic-field emissions ƒ T-coil mode, magnetic-signal strength in the audio band ƒ T-coil mode, magnetic-signal frequency response through the audio band ƒ T-coil mode, magnetic-signal and noise articulation index The hearing aid must be measured for: ƒ RF immunity in microphone mode ƒ RF immunity…

Power output listed is ERP for Part 22 and EIRP for Part 24. SAR compliance for body-worn operation is based on a separation distance of 1.5 cm between the unit and the body of the user. End-users must be informed of the body-worn operating requirements for satisfying RF exposure compliance. Belt clips or holsters may not contain metallic components. SAR compliance was evaluated with the integral Bluetooth active. The highest reported SAR values are: Part 22 - Head: 0.760 W/kg; Body-worn: 0.861 W/kg; Part 24 - Head: 1.28 W/kg; Body-worn: 0.543 W/kg. HAC Rating: M4
