FCC ID: A3LSWL-2460C Modular Approval Request Letter ESTECH CO., LTD. JAN 26, 2006 Dear Application Examiner, SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS CO., LTD. Wireless Card, FCC ID: A3LSWL-2460C, would like to have your authorization for Module Approval specific to the mobile device such as Printer and similar equipment. The requirements of Public Notice DA00-1407 have been met and shown on the following statements. 1. “The modular transmitter must have its own RF shielding.”: The Radio portion of this module has been shielded, please see the external photo. 2. “The modular transmitter must have buffered modulation/data inputs.” The EUT has buffered data inputs, it is integrated in chip AR5213. 3. “The modular transmitter must have its own power supply regulation.” The chips IF converter and RF/IF converter which will influence the frequency radiation, have to be 2.5VDC powered. The CF card interface provides 3.3VDC, so there are regulators in front of these chips, the part number of this regulator is ͽ΅ʹͤͥͧ͡Ͷ ́͟ ͑ 4. “The modular transmitter must comply with the antenna requirements of section 15.203 and 15.204(C).” The EUT meets the FCC antenna requirements. The spurious emission, unique antenna connector and photo of antennas are shown in the external photos or test report. 5. “The modular transmitter must be tested in a stand-alone configuration” The EUT was tested in a stand-alone configuration via a CF card to PCMCIA adapter card. Please see section Photographs of Test Configuration in the test report. 6. “The modular transmitter must be labeled with its own FCC ID number.” Please see exhibition Label Sample for the FCC ID of this module. And also in the exhibition Users Manual, there are instructions give to the OEM on how to label the end product. FCC ID: A3LSWL-2460C 7. “The modular transmitter must comply with any specific rule or operating requirements applicable to the transmitter and the manufacturer must provide adequate instructions along with the module to explain any such requirements.” The EUT is compliant with all applicable FCC rules. Detail instructions for maintaining compliance are given in the Users Manual. 8. “The modular transmitter must comply with any applicable RF exposure requirements.” The EUT is compliant with all applicable RF exposure requirements. RF Exposure is addressed in the RF exposure exhibition. Please contact me if you have any further questions. Thanks for your attention. Best Regards, Jay Kim / Engineering Manager Manager of Telecom division ESTECH CO., LTD
American Telecommunications Certification Body Inc. 6731 Whittier Ave, McLean, VA 22101 January 25, 2006 RE: Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. FCC ID: A3LSWL-2460 I have a few comments on this Application. Depending on your responses, kindly understand there may be additional comments. 1.) Please provide label artwork for this equipment as it is intended to be marketed. 2.) It appears that a daughterboard (U1?) is attached to the main board. FCC rules specify that the underside of all PC boards must be photographed. Please supply additional Internal Photos of this part. 3.) Kindly note that only 11 channels are legal in North America. Will this device be restricted to Channels 1 to 11? If so, kindly provide some evidence addressing this issue. 4.) Are you seeking modular approval for this device? If so, then for a full Modular Approval the device is required to be tested outside of its host (typically on an extender card). If it is intended for a specific host or model, then a Limited Modular Approval (LMA) may apply. Regardless, the requirements of publication DA 00-1407 must be followed. Please address. 5.) Page 1 of the Test Report appears to have incorrectly listed the power. Kindly review. 6.) Restricted Band emissions (47CFR 15.205) do not appear to be addressed. This is especially critical in the band just above 2483.5MHz. Please provide radiated emissions data for the restricted bands below 2390MHz (set to Ch1) and above 2483.5MHz (set to Ch 11). Be sure to check across all data modes and bit rates. 7.) Is the RF power measurement peak, average or RMS? What data rates produced the highest power? The Test Report does not appear to specify. 8.) Since page 1 of the Test Report appears to address Canada requirements, are you also seeking Canada approval? If so, we will need a completed Canada application form. 9.) Assuming that this is a LMA application intended to be installed in a specific host, please provide photographic proof that the antenna is installed at a distance of 20cm or greater from the user’s lab during normal usage. 10.) Please add a photograph of the antenna (or antennas) intended for use with this device to the External Photograph exhibit. 11.) The video bandwidth settings used on OFDM and CCK are not consistent in Section 8.4. Please be sure to use appropriate and consistent instrument settings. Be sure to check for “worst case” of all the data rates. William H. Graff President and Director of Engineering mailto: [email protected] The items indicated above must be submitted before processing can continue on the above referenced application. Failure to provide the requested information may result in application termination. Correspondence should be considered part of the permanent submission and may be viewed from the Internet after a Grant of Equipment Authorization is issued. z Page 2 January 25, 2006 Please do not respond to this correspondence using the email reply button. American Telecommunications Certification Body Inc. 6731 Whittier Ave, McLean, VA 22101 February 4, 2006 RE: Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. FCC ID: A3LSWL-2460 I have a few comments on this Application. Depending on your responses, kindly understand there may be additional comments. 1.) The labeling for this device is still incorrect. It appears that you might be seeking a full unrestricted Modular Approval for this device. Both FCC and IC regulations require that the module itself be labeled, not just the printer into which this device may be installed. In addition, there is no Canada labeling with CN number available. Please provide labeling for the module itself complete with FCC ID and Canada identifiers. 2.) The Modular Approval letter is not clear in its intentions. Are you seeking a full unrestricted Modular Approval or a Limited Modular Approval (LMA) restricted to specific models and types of printers? Please review your modular approval request letter. 3.) The Test Report in section 13.2 shows an antenna gain that does not match the reported antenna gain shown in the RF Exposure exhibit. Please review. 4.) Please confirm that only channels 1-11 will be used for product shipped to North America. William H.
