American Telecommunications Certification Body Inc. 6731 Whittier Ave, McLean, VA 22101 June 7, 2007 RE: Sony Corporation FCC ID: AK8RMT50UD After a review of the submitted information, I have a few comments on the above referenced Application. Depending on your responses, kindly understand there may be additional comments. 1) FYI....Due to various concerns recently seen about proper authority being given to others for FCC matters, the agency letter should be signed by someone traceable to have the proper authority. For instance, the FCC site shows Hiroaki Asano as the correct contact of authority for FCC matters. Therefore the agency letters should be signed by him, or alternatively a letter showing who he has “deputized” to sign on his behalf may be provided as well. Please correct this in future applications. 2) FYI...Part of the IC form provided are from version 8, and others much earlier. We are currently using version 12. Please update in future applications. 3) FYI...Permit But Ask information has been submitted to the FCC. 4) FYI.....We have submitted the required information to the FCC through their “Permit But Ask” Procedure. We are awaiting their ok to continue processing the application or for any questions they may have. Please note that we must obtain FCC’s approval prior to issuing the grant. 5) FYI....IC form should cite standard as RSS-210 and type of device should include “Wireless Audio Device”. 6) It does not appear that the top and bottom of each board is provided for the internal photos. Please provide. 7) Please explain /document the length of the antenna cable. 8) References in the manual for IC should cites RSS-210. Please correct. 9) Given the leaky coax capability of this device, please note that the FCC has been very cautious of leaky-coax style of 15.239 radiators. Last year we saw the FCC require different types of tests and then later change their mind. They have not been very forth coming on how to handle this type of device since that time. It may be that the FCC may desire additional testing in-vehicle, on a ground plane, or another configuration. We will need to await their response to determine if additional testing/configurations are necessary. The FCC has been very concerned with Leaky-coax style devices and many times has very specific ideas on what tests they want done. We will need to wait and see in this instance. Timothy R. Johnson Examining Engineer mailto: [email protected] The items indicated above must be submitted before processing can continue on the above referenced application. Failure to provide the requested information may result in application termination. Correspondence should be considered part of the permanent submission and may be viewed from the Internet after a Grant of Equipment Authorization is issued. z Page 2 July 25, 2007 Please do not respond to this correspondence using the email reply button. In order for your response to be processed expeditiously, you must submit your documents through the AmericanTCB.com website. Also, please note that partial responses increase processing time and should not be submitted. Any questions about the content of this correspondence should be directed to the sender.

Inquiry: ---Reply from Customer on 07/19/2007--- Kindly note that the report was previously reviewed by ATCB. Also, please note that the report provide did contain both 99% and 20 dB bandwidth measurements. This particular lab has always included both since IC has a 99% requirement as well. You will see 20 dB bandwidth results on the pages directly following the 99%. In addition, due to concerns with the methods, the lab has updated the report to clarify the detectors. See section 5.4 of the modified report provided with this email. Please confirm if this application is now acceptable for Certification. Thank You, Tim Response: Go ahead and grant after you review all exhibits. Please note that further review may performed and based on final exhibits in the filin g.
