American Telecommunications Certification Body Inc. 6731 Whittier Ave, McLean, VA 22101 May 15, 2006 RE: FCC ID: AK8PSP1001B2_ATCB003393 Attention: Hiroka Umeyama / Hisayuki Kioka I have a few comments on this Application. Please note that further comments may arise in response to answers provided to the questions below. 1. Please note that the power output in the report is stated to have been measured using an analyzer. On page 25 of the report the resolution bandwidth of the analyzer is shown to be 1MHz. The 6dB bandwidth of the device is said to be 13.5MHz. Please note that an analyzer is not a good instrument to use to measure power of a WLAN type device. A Peak power meter is a more appropriate instrument. However, while the FCC does allow the use of an analyzer, when the resolution bandwidth is less than the emission bandwidth, a resolution bandwidth correction factor must be used and the measurement procedure is to be inline with method 3 of the accepted DTS measurement procedures. In this case the resolution BW correction factor would be 10 log(EBW/RBW) or about 11.3dB. The correction factor (ATTEN) on the data tables on page 25 does not indicate that it includes this resolution bandwidth correction factor or that the testing was done in accordance with method 3 of the accepted DTS procedures. Please explain and please provide data showing the use of the resolution BW correction factors required under the allowed test procedures. If the analyzer automatically accounts for this condition, please provide this information. Please also note that should the numbers in the EMC report, you will also have to correct the SAR reports to be within 5% of the new numbers.
