American Telecommunications Certification Body Inc. 6731 Whittier Ave, McLean, VA 22101 April 9, 2007 RE: Harmon Kardon, Inc. FCC ID: APIDP2US I have a few comments on this Application. Depending on your responses, kindly understand there may be additional comments. 1.) Please show only the pieces which are covered under this FCC ID in the External Photographs. There appears to be a Radio Shack power supply which may not have been intended to be included in these photos. 2.) Please remove the 20cm RF Exposure statement in the manual for this device. In general, only Unlicensed Part 15C transmitter devices which are approved under 15.247 are required to have any RF Exposure declarations – all others within Part 15C are much too low in RF power to ever case any concern. 3.) Please add the 15.19(a)(3) statements to the Manual. If I have missed it – my apologies. Please show me where this 2-part statement lives. 4.) The schematic appears to be for the wrong device. I have attached it with this email. Please review and correct as necessary. 5.) Please review Page 18 of the Test Report. FCC does not allow harmonics to be higher than the fundamental emission – ever. Please review and retest as necessary. 6.) Your microscopic plots in Section 4.5 are going to kill my eyes. Please provide full size plots and not the “itty-bitty” tiny graphics seen in this section. As a general rule, I would encourage you to provide plots that are only one to a page, and no smaller than 16cm in their longest dimension. Thanks in advance. 7.) Your test of maximum occupied bandwidth does not supply me with any information about how this device was modulated. Please note that it appears this device is capable of accepting both analog and digital modulation. As such, you are required to show compliance in both situations. Please provide appropriate test data and descriptions. 8.) Please note that low power personal FM broadcast bands transmitters are part of the FCC’s “Permit But-Ask” procedure. We will need to seek guidance from FCC before we are able to issue any Grant for this type of device. Extra charges may apply as necessary. A please find a copy of this FCC procedure and specific instructions on 15.239 devices. William H. Graff President and Director of Engineering mailto: [email protected] The items indicated above must be submitted before processing can continue on the above referenced application. Failure to provide the requested information may result in application termination. Correspondence should be considered part of the permanent submission and may be viewed from the Internet after a Grant of Equipment Authorization is issued. z Page 2 April 9, 2007 Please do not respond to this correspondence using the email reply button. In order for your response to be processed expeditiously, you must submit your documents through the AmericanTCB.com website. Also, please note that partial responses increase processing time and should not be submitted. Any questions about the content of this correspondence should be directed to the sender.
