6/24/03 To: FCC Re: Form 731 associated with Authorization application B4Z-832-PPX I had great difficulty in getting the form 731 filled out. I would mysteriously get booted back to the FCC home page while I was entering the information. After several tries and a few hours, I eventually got through it by entering minimal information. I thought I could go back to update it later, but now find that I can't. My concern is that the default information in the header is not correct. If there is any questions about this submittal since I didn't fill out the technical contact, please contact me as indicated below. Meanwhile, I am sending a letter in to have the default information corrected. Thank you, John Bergman VP of Wireless Engineering GE Interlogix 2266 North 2 nd Street North Saint Paul, MN 55109 800-777-1415 x4833 [email protected]

Operational Description

GE Interlogix, Inc 06/24/03 4:13 PM FCC ID: B4Z-832-PPX D:\Archived\Projects\Palm TX\FCC\pcs\OP_DESC.DOC Product Description The product is a wireless transmitter used in conjunction with a Palm Pilot M500 PDA. The device is used in a wireless security alarm system to arm and disarm the security system. The homeowner invokes a software application on the Palm Pilot. The software application presents a menu on the touchscreen that replicates an existing KeyFob product. The user may select the arm or disarm touchscreen button with the Palm stylus. According to the button selected, the software application communicates with the transmitter microprocessor the necessary information. The micro then formats the data and controls the transmitter to send out the RF message. In the absence of any use, the transmitter may send a supervisory transmission once every hour. The RF circuit consists of a 106.5 MHz oscillator followed by an amplifier. The amplifier is turned on and off to modulate the carrier. EXHIBIT I Operational Description

Lab Measurements Discussion / Test Notes 3.1 Test Notes 3.1.1 Transmissions shall cease within 5 seconds of activation [ §15.231(a)(2) ] In the event of a disarm or arm command, two packets are sent in the transmission. The packet duration is, at most, 30 mS, see Duty Cycle Correction Factor [§15.231(b)(2) and §15.35(c)]. The time between packets random between 100 mS and 450 mS so the length of the longest transmission is: 2*30mS + 450mS = 0.51 seconds. The following plot shows a 2-packet transmission that concludes in less than 5 seconds. GE Interlogix, Inc FCC_REPT.DOC 06/24/03 5:07 PM FCC ID: B4Z-832-PPX Page 8 of 19 See fig1.…
