Disconnect handset cord from telephone and connect it to socket marked 0 at the bottom of base unit (A). Connect cord with modular plugs (G) to handset socket marked 0 on the telephone and to socket marked 1 at the bottom of the base unit. Connect power unit adaptor (E) to socket marked 2 at the bottom of base unit, and then to a power socket. Switch on power. 2. Mount base unit on stand (D) by turning clockwise until secure. The three cords can extend from the front or back of the base unit as you wish. Mount the headset stand (B) on top of the base unit. 3. Insert battery (F) at rear of remote unit (C) by sliding into place until it clicks. 4. Connect headset to bottom of remote unit using the Quick-Disconnect connector. 5. Insert remote unit into base unit. Both sides of base unit can be used. The battery charging indicator (IV) on base unit will light up. This side will be referred to as the front of the base unit. Before setting up GN Ellipse to your telephone 6. The battery for the remote unit is not charged when delivered. Place remote unit with battery in base unit for at least 1 hour before making the adjustments below. It takes 3 hours to fully charge the battery. Note: If your telephone has volume control, set the volume in the middle position. 3 Checking the system 7. Switch on the headset connection by pressing the link button (VIII) on the remote unit. The on-line indicator (III) on front of base unit will light up and the on-line indicator (V) on top of remote unit starts flashing. The system is now working. If the lights are off, the system is in handset mode. Press the link button (VIII) once to switch to headset mode. If the on-line indicator does not flash, recheck assembly from Step 1. Setting up GN Ellipse to your telephone Do not use the Link button during the set-up. Lift of the handset manually (or, if available on your telephone, press the headset button). 8. Put on your headset. 9. Lift the handset of the telephone manually (or, if avail - able on your telephone, press the headset button) and listen for a dial tone in your headset. 10. If there is no dial tone, adjust the telephone termination switch (II) at the rear of base unit. Move from A to G until the dial tone is clear. If the dial tone is just as clear in position A as in G, leave switch in position A. Adjusting microphone volume 11. Put on your headset. Lift the handset of the telephone manually (or, if available on your telephone, press the headset button) and listen for a dial tone in your headset. 12. Call someone and ask the person to help you evaluate the volume of your voice. 13. Adjust the microphone volume control (I) from 1 to 8 by talking in the headset in each position. When the person you are talking to finds the sound level good, you have the correct setting. If the best setting is 7 or 8, you may have to move the telephone termination switch (A-G) to G. Functions on the remote unit Adjusting the volume 14. To turn up or reduce volume in your headset, press successively towards + or – on the volume control (VI) on the remote unit. When the volume reaches maximum or minimum, you will hear a signal in your headset (see Technical Data). 4 Muting the microphone 15. To talk without your caller hearing you, press the mute button (VII) on the remote unit. You are still able to hear your caller. When the microphone is muted, you will hear a signal every 15 seconds in your headset (see Technical Data). Answering calls with the remote unit 16. When you are not at your desk, you can answer incoming calls with the remote unit, if you have installed the GN 1000 RHL supplied by GN Netcom on your telephone. 17. When you receive an incoming call, the remote unit will buzz and the GN 1000 RHL sends a ring tone to your headset (see Technical Data). Press the red link button (VIII) on the remote unit. The GN 1000 RHL will lift the handset from your telephone and connect your call. To hang up, press the link button (VIII) again. Headset/handset switch 18. You can switch between headset and handset by pressing the link button (VIII) on the remote unit. The on-line indicators (III and V) will light up when the system is in headset mode and turn off when in handset mode. Adjusting the buzzer setting 19. You can choose between four different buzzer settings: 1 Max volume 2 Medium volume 3 Minimum volume 4 Buzzer muted To adjust the buzzer, the system must be in handset mode (see step 18). Press simultaneously the upper and lower part of the volume button (VI) and the mute button (VII) at the same time to enter buzzer setting mode. The on-line indicator on the remote unit will light up. Press the upper or lower part of the volume button (VI) to go trough the four available buzzer settings. To leave the buzzer setting mode, stop pressing the buttons when the desired setting has been reached. Within 5 sec - onds, the setting will be stored and the on-line indicator will switch off. Making or receiving calls with the GN Ellipse To fully experience the freedom of a cordless headset, remove the remote unit from the base unit and clip it to your belt or put it in your pocket. You can now move freely up to 150 meters away from the base unit, depending on the environment in your office building. If you move out of transmission range, GN Ellipse lets you know by means of a si…

The complexity of the technical specifications, however, means that full and thorough testing is impractical for both technical and economic reasons. Furthermore, there is no guarantee that a test sample which has Passed all the relevant tests conforms to a specification. Neither is there any guarantee that such a test sample will interwork with other genuinely open systems. The existence of the tests nevertheless provides the confidence that the test sample possesses the qualities as maintained and that is performance generally conforms to representative cases of communications equipment. The test results of this test report relate exclusively to the item tested as specified in 1.5. The test report may only be reproduced or published in full.
