Signed: Date: March 04, 2002 Name, Title: Craig Kozokar, EMC Project Engineer Note: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to part 15 of FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment gen- erates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harm- ful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures: SReorient or relocate the receiving antenna. SIncrease the separation between the equipment and the receiver. SConnect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected. SConsult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help. ENGLISH 1 WARNING! USING THIS SYSTEM AT EXCESSIVE VOLUMES CAN CAUSE PERMANENT HEARING DAMAGE. USE AS LOW A VOLUME AS POSSIBLE. In order to use this system safely, avoid prolonged listening at excessive sound pressure levels. Please use the fol- lowing guidelines established by the Occupational Safety Health Administration (OSHA) on maximum time exposure to sound pressure levels before hearing damage occurs. 90 dB SPL at 8 hours 95 dB SPL at 4 hours 100 dB SPL at 2 hours 105 dB SPL at 1 hour 110 dB SPL at 1 / 2 hour 115 dB SPL at 15 minutes 120 dB SPL — avoid or hearing damage may occur It is difficult to measure the exact Sound Pressure Levels (SPL) present at the eardrum in live applications. In addition to the volume setting on the PSM, the SPL in the ear is affected by ambient sound from floor wedges or other devices. The isolation provided by the fit of quality earphones is also an important factor in determining the SPL in the ear. Here are some general tips to follow in the use of this product to protect your ears from damage: 1. Turn up the volume control only far enough to hear properly. 2. Ringing in the ears may indicate that the gain levels are too high. Try lowering the gain levels. 3. Have your ears checked by an audiologist on a regular basis. If you experience wax buildup in your ears, stop using the system until an audiologist has examined your ears. 4. Wipe the earphones with an antiseptic before and after use to avoid infections. Stop using the earphones if they are causing great discomfort or infection. This symbol indicates important operating and maintenance instructions in the literature accompanying this unit. FCC Statement. The P2R receiver complies with part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two condi- tions: (1) this device does not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, in- cluding interference that may cause undesired operation. LICENSING INFORMATION Changes or modifications not expressly approved by Shure Incorporated could void your authority to operate the equipment. Licensing of Shure wireless microphone equipment is the user’s responsibility, and licensability depends on the user’s classification and application, and on the selected frequency. The emission tests were performed with the product operating in the UHF television frequency range of 518-608 MHz and 614-784 MHz, which is shared by Part 74.800 (subpart H) licensed wireless microphone systems. 1.2 INTRODUCTION During March of 2002, a suite of various Emissions tests were performed on a three sample models of the Shure PSM 200 system; P2T low power transmitter. Most of the tests were performed with the samples transmitting using the integral antenna. Certain samples were configured to allow a direct connection to be made to the TX output with a coaxial cable, to allow testing in an environmental chamber, and directly connected to an analyzer. These tests were performed using the test procedures outlined in ANSI C63.4-1992 for intentional radiators, as called for in section 2.1033 for a type accepted device, and in accordance with the limits set forth in FCC Part 74.861. These tests were performed by Kenneth L. Boston, PE and Thomas Smith of L. S. Compliance, Inc. 1.3 PURPOSE The above mentioned tests were performed in order to determine the compliance of the test sample with limits contained in various provisions of Title 47 CFR, including: 2.1046 2.1051 2.1057 2.1047 2.1053 74.861 (subpart H) 2.1049 2.1055 All radiated emissions tests were performed to measure the emissions in the frequency bands described by the above sections, and to determine whether said emissions are below the limits established by the above sections. These tests were performed in accordance with the procedure described in the American National Standard for methods of measurement of Radio-Noise Emissions from Low-Voltage Electrical and Electronic Equipment in the Range of 9 kHz to 40 GHz (ANSI C63.4-1992). Another document used as reference for the EMI receiver specification was the International Special Committee on Radio Interference (CISPR) number 16-1 (1993). L.S. Compliance, Inc. Graphs were taken of the 3 sample units previously tested, which were the H2, Q3, and FCC designated samples; and covering three channels in the 518 to 608 MHz range, plus three channels in the 614 to 784 MHz range; with emissions to the 10 th harmonic being inspected. The worst case spurious signal seen was the second harmonic of channel 1 of the Q3 sample, at 1498.2 MHz. (Fo of 749.1 MHz) The level seen of this signal was -39.3 dBm, which is 26.3 dB below the -13 dBm specification level. All other spurious emissions that were seen were lower in level than this signal. GRAPHS FOLLOW L. S. COMPLIANCE, Inc.
