Userβs manual CL84100/CL84200/CL84300 DECT 6.0 corded/cordless telephone/answering system with caller ID/call waiting Getting started Backup batteries installation and use In the event of a power failure, your telephone can still operate with limited functions if there are backup batteries (purchased separately) installed in the telephone base. If a power failure happens during a call on the corded handset, the call continues (at the lowest volume) until you hang up; while a call on the cordless handset or speakerphone disconnects immediately. During a power failure, you can still make and answer calls using the corded handset. However, you cannot make or answer calls on the cordless handset or speakerphone. If power resumes while you are on a call, the call continues and the telephone resets once you hang up. Follow the steps below to install backup batteries. 2. Press the tab on the base battery cover (on the bottom of the telephone base) toward the cover and swing open the battery door. 3. Insert three new AAA alkaline batteries, matching the + and - signs engraved on the telephone base. 4. Replace the backup battery cover onto the telephone base; the cover clicks into place when it is attached properly. During a power failure, if the backup batteries are installed, the telephone base displays CHECK AC POWER. 1. Make sure the telephone line cord and power adapter cord are not connected to the telephone base. NOTES: 1. Use disposable AAA alkaline batteries only. Do not use rechargeable batteries. 2. With backup batteries, the base ringer and the handset listening volume will be at the lowest setting. 3. We recommend changing the batteries every nine months. Plug the small end of the AC power adapter into the power jack on the bottom of the telephone base. β’ Plug one end of the telephone line cord into the telephone jack on the bottom of the telephone base. β’ Place the cords into the channels. β’ Plug the other end of the telephone line cord into a telephone jack or a DSL filter. β’ Plug the other end of the coiled handset cord into the jack at the left of the telephone base. β’ Raise the antenna. β’ Plug the large end of the AC power adapter into a power outlet not controlled by a wall switch. β’ If you have DSL high speed Internet service, a DSL filter (not included) is required. Battery is charged.To keep the battery charged, place it in the telephone base or charger when not in use. Battery installation and charging Install the battery as shown below. Once you have installed the battery, the screen indicates the battery status (see table below). If necessary, place the handset in the telephone base or charger to charge the battery. For best performance, keep the handset in the telephone base or charger when not in use. The battery is fully charged after 1 hours of continuous charging. See the table on page 1 for battery operating times. If the screen shows Low battery, you need to charge the handset without interruption for at least 30 minutes to give the handset enough charge to use the telephone for a short time. The following table summarizes the battery charge indicators and actions to take. Step 1 Plug the battery connector securely into the socket inside the handset battery compartment, matching the color-coded label. Insert the supplied battery with the label THIS SIDE UP facing up as indicated. Step 2 Align the cover flat against the battery compartment, then slide it upwards until it clicks into place. NOTE: If you are on a phone call in low battery mode, you hear four short beeps every minute. Getting started Battery installation and charging Step 3 Charge the handset by placing it face forward in the telephone base or charger. The CHARGE light on the top of the handset is on during charging. After you install your telephone or power returns following a power outage, the handset will prompt you to set the date and time. INTERTEK TESTING SERVICES FCC ID:EW780-7301-00 RF exposure - 1 of 1 For Maximum Permissible Exposure (MPE) evaluation of the base unit, the maximum power density at 20 cm from this mobile transmitter shall be less than the General Population / Uncontrolled MPE limit in OET Bulletin 65. For the base unit of tested model CL84100, the maximum field strength measured (FS) was 119.0 dBΞΌV/m. The distance (D) between the antenna and the equipment under test (EUT) was 3 meters. And the maximum source-based time-averaging duty factor in four-handsets operation is 16.5%. From these data, the exposed power density at a distance (R) of 20cm from the center of radiation of the antenna can be calculated according to OET Bulletin 65 as follow: The radiated power = (FS*D) 2 / 30 = 40.47 mW The radiated (EIRP) source-based time-averaging output power = (40.47 * 0.165) mW = 6.68 mW The power density at 20 cm from the antenna = EIRP / 4ΟR 2 = 0.0013 mW cm -2 In the frequency range of 1,500 - 100,000MHz, the MPE limit is 1.0 mWcm -2 for general population and uncontrolled exposure. As the measured power density at 20cm from the transmitter is lower than the MPE limit, the compliance to the MPE limit can be ensured by indicating the minimum 20cm separation between the transmitter's radiating structures and body of the user or nearby persons. The following RF exposure statement is proposed to be included in the user manual: β FCC RF Radiation Exposure Statement Caution: To maintain compliance with the FCCβs RF exposure guidelines, place the base unit at least 20cm from nearby persons.β
