Before using this product, please read Important safety instructions on the following page of this manual. This manual has all the feature operations and troubleshooting necessary to install and operate your new VTech product. Please review this manual thoroughly to ensure proper installation and operation of this innovative and feature rich VTech product. Product introduction VM321 is a baby monitor which consists of one parent unit (VM321 PU) and one baby unit (VM321 BU). VM321-2 is a baby monitor which consists of one parent unit (VM321-2 PU) and two baby units (VM321-2 BU). ii Important safety instructions When using your equipment, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock and injury, including the following: Follow all warnings and instructions marked on the product. Unplug this product from the wall outlet before cleaning. Do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners. Use a damp cloth for cleaning. Do not use this product near water such as near a bath tub, wash bowl, kitchen sink, laundry tub or swimming pool, or in a wet basement or shower. Use only the adapters included with this product. Incorrect adapter polarity or voltage can seriously damage the product. Baby unit power adapter: Input 100-120V AC 50/60 Hz; output: 6V DC 800 mA Parent unit power adapter: Input 100-120V AC 50/60 Hz; output: 6V DC 800 mA Use only the batteries indicated in this manual. Do not dispose of batteries in a fire. They may explode. Check with local codes for possible special disposal instructions. Do not place this product on an unstable table, shelf, stand or other unstable surfaces. Slots and openings in the back or bottom of this product are provided for ventilation. To protect them from overheating, these openings must not be blocked by placing the product on a soft surface such as a bed, sofa or rug. This product should never be placed near or over a radiator or heat register. This product should not be placed in any area where proper ventilation is not provided. This product should be operated only from the type of power source indicated on the marking label. If you are not sure of the type of power supply in your home, consult your dealer or local power company. Do not allow anything to rest on the power cord. Do not install this product where the cord may be walked on or crimped. Never push objects of any kind into this product through the slots because they may touch dangerous voltage points or create a short circuit. Never spill liquid of any kind on the product. To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not disassemble this product, but take it to an authorized service facility. Opening or removing parts of the product other than specified access doors may expose you to dangerous voltages or other risks. The power adapters are intended to be correctly oriented in a vertical or floor mount position. The prongs are not designed to hold the plug in place if it is plugged into a ceiling, under-the-table or cabinet outlet. 14. CAUTION: There may be a risk of explosion if a wrong type of battery is used for the parent unit. Use only the supplied rechargeable battery (BT298555) or replacement battery pack (BT298555). Dispose of used battery according to the information in The RBRC ® seal in the user’s manual. This product is not intended for use as a medical monitor. Adult setup is required. You should test the sound reception every time you turn on the units or move one of the components. Periodically examine all components for damage. This baby monitor is intended as an aid. It is not a substitute for responsible and proper adult supervision and should not be used as such. Never immerse any part of the baby monitor in water or any other liquid. Check that the voltage indicated on the included power adapters corresponds to the voltage of your power outlets before you connect the product. Only use the included power adapters to connect the parent and baby units to your power outlets. Do not cut off the power adapters to replace them with other plugs, as this causes a hazardous situation. If the power adapters are damaged, please only replace them with the same type in order to avoid a hazard. Never use the baby monitor in moist places or close to water. In order to prevent electric shock, do not open the housing of the baby unit or parent unit except for the battery compartment covers. Except for the battery compartments, do not open the housing of the baby units or parent unit in order to prevent electric shock. The product is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. RF Exposure Info

INTERTEK TESTING SERVICES FCC ID:EW780-8181-00 RF exposure info- 1 of 1 For Maximum Permissible Exposure (MPE) evaluation of the baby unit, the maximum power density at 20 cm from this mobile transmitter shall be less than the General Population / Uncontrolled MPE limit in OET Bulletin 65. For the baby unit of tested model of VM321 BU maximum field strength measured (FS) was 110.6 dBμV/m. The distance (D) between the antenna and the equipment under test (EUT) was 3 meters. And the maximum source-based time-averaging duty factor is 72.5%. From these data, the exposed power density at a distance (R) of 20cm from the center of radiation of the antenna can be calculated according to OET Bulletin 65 as follow: The radiated power = (FS*D) 2 / 30 = 34.44 mW The radiated (EIRP) source-based time-averaging output power = (34.44 * 0.725) mW = 24.97 mW The power density at 20 cm from the antenna = EIRP / 4πR 2 = 0.0050 mW cm -2 In the frequency range of 1,500 - 100,000MHz, the MPE limit is 1.0 mWcm -2 for general population and uncontrolled exposure. As the measured power density at 20cm from the transmitter is lower than the MPE limit, the compliance to the MPE limit can be ensured by indicating the minimum 20cm separation between the transmitter's radiating structures and body of the user or nearby persons. The following RF exposure statement is proposed to be included in the user manual: “ FCC RF Radiation Exposure Statement Caution: To maintain compliance with the FCC’s RF exposure guidelines, place the baby unit at least 20cm from nearby persons.”
