BT914 Amplified Big Button Cordless Phone with Bluetooth Connectivity User Guide 2 3 Congratulations on purchasing your new Clarity product. Before using this telephone, please read Important Safety Instructions. WARNINGS: PRIVACY OF COMMUNICATIONS MAY NOT BE ENSURED WHEN USING THIS PHONE. To maintain the compliance with the FCC’s RF exposure guideline, place the base unit at least 20 cm from nearby persons. To reduce the risk of fire or injury to persons, read and follow these instruc- tions. 1. Read and understand all instructions. 2. Follow all warnings and instructions marked on the tele- phone. 3. Avoid contact with liquids. Do not locate base unit or handset near water, for example, near a bathtub, wash basin, sink or laundry tub, in a wet basement or near a swimming pool. 4. Avoid using a telephone (other than a cordless type) during a storm. There may be a remote risk of electrical shock from lightning. 5. Do not use the telephone to report a gas leak in the vicin- ity of the leak. IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS 4 6. Unplug this telephone from the wall outlets before clean- ing. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol cleaners on the telephone. Use a damp cloth for cleaning. 7. Place this telephone on a stable surface. Serious damage and/or injury may result if the telephone falls. 8. Do not cover the slots and openings on this telephone. This telephon should never be placed near or over a radia- tor or heat register. This telephone should not be placed in a built-in installation unless proper ventilation is provided. 9. Operate this telephone using the electrical voltage as stated on the base unit or the owner’s manual. If you are not sure of the voltage in your home, consult your dealer or local power company. 10. Do not allow anything to rest on the power cord or locate this product in an area where the power cord is likely to be damaged by furniture or foot traffic. 11. Do not overload wall outlets or extension cords as this can increase the risk of fire or electrical shock. 12. Never push any objects through the slots in the telephone. They can touch dangerous voltage points or short out parts that could result in a risk of fire or electrical shock. Never spill liquid of any kind on the telephone. IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS 5 13. To reduce the risk of electrical shock, do not take this phone apart. Opening or removing covers may expose you to dangerous voltages or other risks. Incorrect reassembly can cause electric shock when the appliance is subsequently used. 14. Unplug this product from the wall outlet and refer servic- ing to the manufacturer under the following conditions: when the power supply cord or plug is frayed or damaged; if liquid has been spilled into the product; if the telephone has been exposed to rain or water; if the tele- phone has been dropped or the case has been damaged; if the telephone exhibits a distinct change in performance; if the telephone does not operate normally by following the operating instructions. Adjust only those controls that are covered by the operating instructions. Improper adjust- ment may require extensive work by a qualified techni- cian to restore the telephone to normal operation; if the telephone does not operate normally by following the operating instructions. 15. RF Exposure Info

INTERTEK TESTING SERVICES FCC ID: EW780-9665-00 RF exposure - 1 of 1 For Maximum Permissible Exposure (MPE) evaluation of the base unit, the maximum power density at 20 cm from this mobile transmitter shall be less than the General Population / Uncontrolled MPE limit in OET Bulletin 65 and meet the requirement listed in KDB447498. For the 1.9GHz DECT 6.0 Cordless Telephone of tested model: BT914, the measured powers among all the measured channels were within its production tolerance: +16 dBm (Minimum) and +21 dBm (Maximum). The antenna gain of BT914 is 0 dBi = 1.00 (num gain) and its maximum source-based time-averaging duty factor is 25.0% (6/24 x100%). From these data and its operating configuration – Mobile device, the exposed power density at a distance (R) of 20cm from the center of radiation of the antenna can be calculated according to OET Bulletin 65 as follow: The Conducted Power = 21 dBm = 125.9 mW The Conducted Power source-based time-averaging output power = (125.9 * 0.250) mW = 31.47 mW The power density at 20cm = 31.47 *1.00/ 4πR 2 = 0.0063 mW cm -2 For the 2.4GHz Bluetooth Transmission of tested model: BT914, the measured powers among all the measured channels were within its production tolerance: -6 dBm (Minimum) and +4 dBm (Maximum). The antenna gain of BT914 is 0 dBi = 1.00 (num gain) and its maximum source-based time-averaging duty factor is 83.3% (5/6 x100%). From these data and its operating configuration – Mobile device, the exposed power density at a distance (R) of 20cm from the center of radiation of the antenna can be calculated according to OET Bulletin 65 as follow: The Conducted Power = 4 dBm = 2.5 mW The Conducted Power source-based time-averaging output power = (2.5 * 0.833) mW = 2.09 mW The power density at 20cm = 2.09 *1.00/ 4πR 2 = 0.0004 mW cm -2 INTERTEK TESTING SERVICES FCC ID: EW780-9665-00 RF exposure - 1 of 1 Per KDB 447498 D01 v05, simultaneous transmission MPE test exclusion applies when the sum of the MPE ratios for all simultaneous transmitting antennas incorporated in a host device, based on calculated or measured field strengths or power density, is ≤ 1.0. The MPE ratio for DECT 6.0 Cordless Telephone can be calculated as follow: = The power density at 20cm / MPE limit = 0.0063 mW cm -2 / 1.0 mW cm -2 = 0.0063 The MPE ratio for Bluetooth Transmission can be calculated as follow: = The power density at 20cm / MPE limit = 0.0004 mW cm -2 / 1.0 mW cm -2 = 0.0004 The sum of the MPE ratios for all simultaneous transmitting antennas = 0.0063 + 0.0004 = 0.0067 As the sum of MPE ratios for all simultaneous transmitting antennas is ≤ 1.0, simultaneous transmission MPE test exclusion will be applied. Conclusion In frequency range of 1,500 - 100,000MHz, the MPE limit is 1.0 mWcm -2 for general population and uncontrolled exposure. As simultaneous transmission MPE test exclusion is applied and the measured power density at 20cm from all the standalone transmissions is lower than the MPE limit, the compliance to the MPE limit can be ensured by indicating the minimum 20cm separation between the transmitter's radiating structures and body of the user or nearby persons. The following RF exposure statement is proposed to be included in the user manual: “ FCC RF Radiation Exposure Statement Caution: To maintain compliance with the FCC’s RF exposure guidelines, place the base unit at least 20cm from nearby persons.”
