Helen Zhao Subject: FW: ??: FW: ASKEY COMPUTER CORP. , FCC ID: H8NWLL4071, Assessment NO.: AN05T4836 (DTS) 6/9/2005 From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]]On Behalf Of [email protected] Sent: Thursday, June 09, 2005 5:31 AM To: Helen Zhao Subject: ??: FW: ASKEY COMPUTER CORP. , FCC ID: H8NWLL4071, Assessment NO.: AN05T4836 (DTS) Dear Helen: Please refer our reply as below. Tks Best Regard Amanda Question #1: This device is seeking modular approval. In the modular approval cover letter, it says "For mobile configuration only. Refer to MPE calculation in the test report.". However if you go back to check the report - section 7.5 RF Exposure, it checks "Portable" and "SAR evaluation", it says "MPE calculation is not applicable". Please explain. Ans: Sorry, test report had been revised as attachment. Question #2: The modular approval cover letter says "User shall be informed that keeping at least 20cm safe separation away the device." However there is no such statement in the user manual. Please revise the manual to include necessary RF exposure statements. Question #3: The modular approval cover letter lists an incomplete requirement for item 6. Below is an excerpt from FCC Public Notice 00-1407: "The modular transmitter must be labeled with its own FCC ID number, and, if the FCC ID is not visible when the module is installed inside another device, then the outside of the device into which the module is installed must also display a label referring to the enclosed module. This exterior label can use wording such as the following: "Contains Transmitter Module FCC ID: XYZMODEL1" or "Contains FCC ID: XYZMODEL1." Any similar wording that expresses the same meaning may be used. The Grantee may either provide such a label, an example of which must be included in the application for equipment authorization, or, must provide adequate instructions along with the module which explain this requirement. In the latter case, a copy of these instructions must be included in the application for equipment authorization." Either FCC ID label format or the user manual does not show how to label the host device when the module is installed inside the host and invisible. Please provide such information in the manual. Question #4: The user manual does not provide any instruction on how to install the mini-PCI card and the antenna(s) that will be used with the device into the host devices. Please revise the manual to include the instruction and related information to OEM integrator in order to satisfy FCC 15.203 & 204 requirements. Ans: Thank you for your advancing. It let me learning a lot thing and please refer the User manual for P66. Best Regards, Helen Zhao The items indicated above must be submitted before processing can continue on the above referenced application. Failure to provide the requested information within 30 days of the original e-mail date may result in application dismissal and forfeiture of the filing fee. Also, please note that partial responses increase processing time and should not be submitted. ASKEY COMPUTER CORP. Modular Approval Request Letter June 2, 2005 Compliance Certification Services 561F Monterey Rd., Morgan Hill, CA 95037, USA To Whom It May Concern: Please be advised that 802.11a/b/g Mini PCI Card, with the FCC ID: H8NWLL4071 would be certified as the Modular Approval with the Mobile device classification. User shall be informed that keeping at least 20cm safe separation away the device. We also assure the device complies with the requirements listed in the Public Notice DA-00-1407, details are listed as follows: 1. The modular transmitter must have its own RF shielding: The radio portion of this module has been shielded, please see exhibition External Photo. 2. The modular transmitter must have buffered modulation / data inputs: The EUT has buffered data inputs, it is integrated in chip AR5413 / AR5414 3. The modular transmitter must have its own power supply regulation: The AR5006XS design uses two voltages: 3.3V and 1.8V. The 3.3V supply is provided by the Mini PCI interface. The 1.8V supply is provided by an internal voltage regulator inside the AR5414. This internal regulator is a 1.8V linear regulator used to power the core of the AR5414. Its circuitry includes an external compensation network and a PNP transistor. 4. The modular transmitter must comply with the antenna requirements of the Section 15.203 and 15.204(c): The EUT meets the FCC antenna requirements. The spurious emission, unique antenna connector and photo of antennas are shown in the External Photos & Internal Photos. 5. The modular transmitter must be tested in a stand-alone configuration: The EUT was tested in a stand-alone configuration via a PCMCIA to mini-PCI extender. Please see section Photographs of Test Configuration in the test report, the EUT was plugged in this extender. 6. The modular transmitter must be labeled with its own FCC ID number: That is label show β FCC ID: H8NWLL4071βin the end product. 7. The modular transmitter must comply with any specific rule or operating requirements applicable to the transmitter and the manufacturer must provide adequate instructions along with the module to explain any such requirements: The EUT is compliant with all applicable FCC rules. Detail instructions for maintaining compliance are given in the Users Manual. 8. The modular transmitter must comply with any applicable RF exposure requirements: For mobile configuration only. Refer to MPE calculation in the test report. RF Exposure is addressed in the RF exposure exhibition. Should you have any question, please donβt hesitate to ask us. Best regards,
