This Quick Start Guide will help you go through the basic features of your phone to get you started. If any are missing, please contact your retailer. Motorola XT502 AC Adapter Battery Quick Start Guide Headset Important: A headset has been provided for use with your mobile phone. This headset is the only model headset that Motorola warrants to operate with your phone. Quick Start Guide 2 Your Phone Touch screen Menu Home Call Microphone Earpiece Back Browser End Trackball Volume: Slide up/ down to increase/ decrease volume Shutter Flash 3.0 Megapixel camera Back cover Micro USB connector Speaker Strap holes Power Headset jack Quick Start Guide 3 Installing SIM Card, Battery and Memory Card Caution: Before assembling, charging, or using your phone for the first time, please read the important legal and safety information at the back of this guide. 1. Open the back cover. 2. If the battery is inserted, lift and remove the battery. 3. Insert the SIM card. Make sure the gold contacts are facing down and the cut-off corner is facing towards the battery slot. Quick Start Guide 4 4. Insert the memory card with the gold contacts facing down. 5. Push the memory card until it clicks into place. Note: • To remove the memory card, push it down to eject it from the slot. • Do not remove the memory card while the phone is turned on. Sudden removal of the memory card may cause data loss or unpredictable system crashes. 6. Insert the battery. Make sure the contacts of the battery are aligned with the connectors on the battery slot. 7. Secure the hooks on the back cover with designated holes on the phone and close the back cover. 5 Quick Start Guide Charging the Battery 1. Open the micro USB connector cover. 2. Connect the USB cable to the phone. 3. Connect the other end of the USB cable to the AC adapter. 4. Plug the AC adapter into a wall outlet to start charging. Note: To fully charge battery, charge it for 3 hours. Battery life will vary depending on the applications used. Note: The battery can also be charged when you connect your phone to a computer using the USB cable. Note: Users have to use the connection to USB interfaces with USB 2.0 version or higher. LED Indicators Your phone has two LED indicators: green and red. LED Location Indication Green (solid) Call key Battery is fully charged. 6 Quick Start Guide Red (solid) End key Battery is charging. 7 Quick Start Guide First Start Up After installing the SIM card and charging the battery, you are now ready to turn on the phone - press and hold the Power key on the top of the phone. The Home Screen From the Home screen, you can quickly access common features and view notifications of missed calls, receive messages and check connection status. Notifications - Flick down to display Tap an icon to open it. Flick left/right to show more home screen panels. Status Icons Application Drawer Tap the Application Drawer to open the application menu. For more information about the Home screen, please refer to the User Guide. 8 Quick Start Guide Making Your First Call On the Home screen, tap Dialer. To make a call 1. Enter the phone number using the keypad. 2. Tip: Tap to erase a wrong number. Tap and hold to erase the entire number. 3. Press Call or tap the number to dial. 4. To end the call, press End. To answer a call To answer a call, press Call. Entering Information You can enter information using the on-screen keyboard. To use the on-screen keyboard When an application requires text input, tap the input box to display the on-screen keyboard. 9 Quick Start Guide 1. Tap the input box to display the on-screen keyboard. Note: To toggle between upper and lowercase, tap . To display the numeric and the symbols keyboard, tap . Tap to toggle back. 2. Tap keys on the keyboard to enter characters. Note: If word completion is activated, the screen displays a list of suggested words as you type the characters. 10 Quick Start Guide Contacts To add a Contact 1. On the Home screen, tap Contacts. 2. Tap Menu > New > Create contact. 3. Enter contact information, such as name, phone number, email address etc. Tap Done to save the contact or tap Revert to exit without saving the changes. Note: Your SIM card only stores the name and the phone number. To store more information, such as an email address, create a new contact on the phone. To import contacts 1. On the Home screen, tap Contacts. 2. Tap Menu > More > Import Contacts. 3. Select to import contacts from SIM Card or SD Card. 4.
