APPLICANT: MOTOROLA, INC.FCC ID: IHDT56BJ1 EXHIBIT 8A INSTRUCTION MANUAL In response to correspondence reference number 21522, a revised page of the preliminary draft copy of the Users Manual follows: 101 PRELIMINAR Y In general, the closer you are to a wireless base station antenna, the lower the power output. Before a phone model is available for sale to the public in the U.S. and Canada, it must be tested and certified to the FCC and Industry Canada that it does not exceed the limit established by each government for safe exposure. The tests are performed in positions and locations (e.g., at the ear and worn on the body) reported to the FCC and available for review by Industry Canada. The highest SAR value for this model phone when tested for use at the ear is 1.43 W/kg 2 , and when worn on the body, as described in this user guide, is 0.88 W/kg. 2 (Body-worn measurements differ among phone models, depending upon available accessories and regulatory requirements). While there may be differences between the SAR levels of various phones and at various positions, they all meet the governmental requirements for safe exposure. The FCC and Industry Canada have granted an Equipment Authorization for this model phone with all reported SAR levels evaluated as being in compliance with the FCC and Health Canada RF exposure guidelines. SAR information on this model phone is on file with the FCC and can be found under the Display Grant section of: http://www.fcc.gov/oet/fccid after searching on FCC ID IHDT56BJ1. APPLICANT: MOTOROLAFCC ID: IHDT56BJ1 Exhibit 13A December 10, 2001 Amendment to Submission Federal Communications Commission Authorization and Evaluation Division 7435 Oakland Mills Road Columbia, Maryland 21046 Re: Amended Application for Cellular/PCS Transceiver Certification (EA102756) Gentlemen: Purpose: This cover letter describes amendment to the existing EA102756 (FCC ID: IHDT56BJ1) application. Description: The amendment is required due to revised SAR measurements in the 1900 MHz PCS band only. The revised values are the result of improvements to 1900 MHz receiver de-sense which incorporates minor changes in the circuit board ground plane. Changes in the ground plane, necessitated component value changes in the 1900 MHz antenna match. These two changes, in turn, produced changes in the 1900 MHz SAR characteristics. Details of Change: A complete “permissive change” analysis was performed. The changed characteristics are limited to the 1900 MHz (PCS band) SAR. Refer to the supplemental SAR report (submitted on 12-10-01) for details. In addition, the parts list provided in exhibit 10 is modified with the following component value changes. C51 changed to 18 PF C50 deleted L50 changed to 8.2 NH Contact Information: Thank you for this special consideration. Introduction The Motorola Personal Communications Sector Product Safety Laboratory has performed measurements of the maximum potential exposure to the user of portable cellular phone FCC ID IHDT56BJ1. The Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) of this product was measured. The portable cellular phone was tested in accordance with the latest available test guidelines. The SAR values found for the portable cellular phone (FCC ID IHDT56BJ1) are below the maximum recommended levels of 1.6 W/kg. Detailed procedures of the test are described in the Motorola Exhibit 11 Reference SAR Test Report. 2. Description of the Device Under Test Antenna description Type Extendable Whip Location Right Side Length 58 mm Dimensions Width 8 mm Configuration Helix Device description FCC ID Number IHDT56BJ1 Serial number 30A0043 Mode(s) of Operation AMPS800 CDMA800 CDMA1900 Modulation Mode(s) AMPS CDMA CDMA Maximum Output Power Setting 27.50dBm 25.00dBm 25.00dBm Duty Cycle 1:1 1:1 1:1 Transmitting Frequency Rang(s) 824-849MHz 824-849MHz 1851-1909MHz 3. Test Results The SAR results shown in tables 1 and 2 are maximum SAR values averaged over 1 gram of phantom tissue. Also shown are the measured conducted output powers and the temperature of the test facility during the test. The test sample was operated over the air using a CDMA mobile call box. The phone was then placed in the SAR measurement system with a fully charged battery. A full data set output of two test conditions with the highest SAR values from the Dasy measurement system is included as appendix 2 and 3. The test conditions included are indicated as bold numbers in the following table. All other test conditions measured lower SAR values than those included. Note that digital mode SAR data was measured only for the test conditions that resulted in the highest analog SAR values. This is because the only difference between analog and digital modes that can impact SAR is the average transmitter power. APPLICANT: MOTOROLA, INC.
