Attestation Statements

Date: November 4, 2004 Subject: Request for additional information regarding FCC ID: IHDT56EG1 (Portable Cellular/PCS GSM transceiver) Reference: Application Received: 10/04/2004 Correspondence Reference Number: 241103A.IHD Confirmation Number: TC4337 Date of Original Email: 11/03/2004 Prepared by: Andrew Bachler, Principal Staff Engineer Motorola Personal Communications Sector Libertyville, Illinois Questions and responses follow: 1. Does the EUT contain an embedded Bluetooth transmitter? It is referenced on p.3 of the EMC report, but nowhere else. If it does, please submit the application for that device, as well as SAR data for the phone taken while the Bluetooth is active. Response: Page 3 of the EMC report is in error. The phone does not contain Bluetooth. 2. Page 6 of the EMC report lists the output power level for cellular operation on channel 251 as 32.03 dBm, while the SAR data lists the output power level for channel 251 as 32.75 dBm (p.7 of the SAR report). These values are more than 0.5 dB apart, which is not permitted for RF conducted measurements. It appears that the level listed in the EMC report may be a typo (it is much lower than the levels for the other 2 channels listed). Please address. Response: The conducted power level on page 6 of the EMC report is error. Please correct 32.03 dBm to 33.03 dBm. 3. The PCS right touch SAR data was taken on 9/1/04, however, there is no validation data for that date, nor do the tissue parameters match those values listed in the Table on p.4 of the SAR report. Please address. Response: Please refer to the supplemental SAR report submitted on November 4, 2004. 4. The User’s Manual does not contain a statement regarding the requirements for RFx compliance with respect to body-worn configurations. Please verify that this statement will be included prior to marketing. Response: Yes. The required compliance statements will be included in the separate booklet: IMPORTANT SAFETY AND LEGAL INFORMATION. 1

Power output listed is ERP for Part 22 and EIRP for Part 24. SAR compliance for body-worn operating configurations is based on a separation distance of 1.5 cm between the back of the unit and the body of the user. End-users must be informed of the body-worn operating requirements for satisfying RF exposure compliance. Belt clips or holsters may not contain metallic components. The highest reported SAR values are: Part 22 - Head: 1.10 W/kg; Body-worn: 0.45 W/kg Part 24 - Head: 1.13 W/kg; Body-worn: 0.37 W/kg
