APPLICANT: MOTOROLA, INC.FCC ID: IHDT5AE1 EXHIBIT 8 INSTRUCTION MANUAL A preliminary draft copy of the Users Manual follows: 1 Each digital wireless phone manufactured and supplied by Motorola has its own ESN(Electronics Serial Number). Removal or change of this ESN, or an attempt to reproduce and enter another ESN shall be deemed an illegal act. Any person who commits such an illegal act shall be sentenced to three or less years' penal servitude or fined 10 million or less won pursuant to the related civil laws(Article 4 of Radio Wave Act, Article 57 of Telecommunications Enterprise Act, and Article 347 of the Criminal Law Act). In addition, such an illegal act may damage the software built in the phone, with the result that the phone cannot be used any longer. Thus, customers are required to use care not to incur any damage due to such an illegal act. Especially, once such an illegal act is identified, both the free and paid services warranted by Motorola are rejected. This product should not be added with any separate equipment that may cause an alteration to its original performance as described on type registration. Prohibition of illegal modification of ESN Do not lend your own phone to other person inadvertently. For repairs or other services, contact our designated service center. If your phone has got lost or stolen, immediately report to the relevant telecommunications service provider. Precautions 2 IMPORTANT: Read this information before using your wireless handheld phone. Exposure to Radio Frequency Signals Your wireless handheld portable telephone is a low power radio transmitter and receiver. When it is ON, it receives and also sends out radio frequency (RF) signals. In August 1996, The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) adopted RF exposure guidelines with safety levels for handheld wireless phones. Those guidelines are consistent with safety standards previously set by both U.S. and international standards bodies: American National Standards Institute (ANSI) IEEE. C95. 1-1992 National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurement (NCRP). Report 86 International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP) 1996 Ministry of Health (Canada), Safety Code 6 Those standards were based on comprehensive and periodic evaluations of the relevant scientific literature. For example, over 120 scientists, engineers, and physicians from universities, government health agencies, and industry reviewed the available body of research to develop the ANSI Standard (C95.1). Safety Information Exposure to Radio Frequency Signal 3 The design of your phone complies with the FCC guidelines (and those standards). For additional information concerning exposure to radio frequency signals, see the statement by the FDA at the end of this user guide. To maintain compliance with FCC RF exposure guidelines, if you wear a handset on your body, use the Motorola-supplied or approved carrying case, holster, or other body-worn accessory. If you do not use a body-worn accessory, ensure the antenna is at least one inch (2.5 centimeters) from your body when transmitting. Use of non-Motorola accessories may violate FCC RF exposure guidelines. Use only the supplied or an approved replacement antenna. Unauthorized antennas, modifications, or attachments could damage the phone and may violate FCC regulations. Antenna Care 4 Hold the phone as you would any other telephone, with the antenna pointed up and over your shoulder. Observe the following guidelines to operate your phone most efficiently. iExtend your antenna fully, if applicable. iDo not touch the antenna unnecessarily when the phone is in use. Contact with the antenna affects call quality and may cause the phone to operate at a higher power level than otherwise needed. Caution! All batteries can cause property damage, injury, or burns if a conductive material, such as jewelry, keys or beaded chains, touches exposed terminals. The material may complete an electrical circuit and become quite hot. To protect against such unwanted current drain, exercise care in handling any charged battery, particularly when placing it inside your pocket, purse, or other container with metal objects. When the battery is detached from the phone, your batteries are packed with a protective battery cover; please use this cover for storing your batteries when not in use. Check the laws and regulations on the use of wireless telephones in the areas where you drive. Always obey them. Observe the following guidelines when using your phone while driving. Phone Operation / Normal Operation Phone Operation / Tips on Efficient Operation Batteries Driving 5 i Give full attention to driving--driving safely is your first responsibility. i Use hands-free phone operation, if available. i Pull off the road and park before making or answering a call if driving conditions so require. Most modern electronic equipment is shielded from RF signals. However, certain equipment may not be shielded against the RF signals from your wireless phone. The Health Industry Manufacturers Association recommends that a minimum separation of six inches (6") be maintained between a handheld wireless phone and a pacemaker to avoid potential interference with the pacemaker. These recommendations are consistent with the independent research by and recommendations of Wireless Technology Research. Persons with pacemakers: i should ALWAYS keep the phone more than six inches from their pacemaker when the phone is turned ON i should not carry the phone in a breast pocket i should use the ear opposite the pacemaker to minimize the potential for interference i should turn the phone OFF immediately if you have any reason to suspect that interference is taking place Some digital wireless phones may interfere with some hearing aids. In the event of such interference, you may want to consult your hearing aid manufacturer to discuss alternatives. Pacemakers Electronic Devices Hearing aids 6 If you use any other p…

November 20, 2000 Supplement to SAR Test Report for Motorola portable cellular phone (FCC ID IHDT5AG1). Prepared by: Steven Hauswirth, Staff Electrical Engineer Motorola Personal Communications Sector Product Safety Laboratory Libertyville, Illinois Contents 1) Summary of FCC request for additional information 2) Body-worn SAR Evaluation 1. Summary of FCC request for additional information There was a request for additional information regarding Motorola’s SAR Test Report for Motorola portable cellular phone (FCC ID IHDT5AG1) dated October 16, 2000. The requested information may be summarized as follows: The manual has included a body-worn statement but there is no body-worn SAR data submitted for this filing; please clarify and submit body-worn results. The same section of the manual asks users to ensure the antenna is at least 2.5 cm from their body when body-worn accessories are not used. This statement is only applicable if the peak SAR is due to the antenna only. It would not apply if the peak SAR is due to other parts of the handset. In order for the 2.5 cm to be applicable, both head and body-worn SAR results must support this distance; please review and revise accordingly if necessary 2. Body-worn SAR Evaluation Body-worn SAR was addressed by testing SAR with a minimum separation distance of 2.5cm between the back of the phone and the flat phantom. The channel that gives the highest head adjacent SAR (mid channel - chn #384) was tested for body-worn use. The SAR results for head adjacent use that were given in the previous submission had the base of the antenna 2.0cm away from the phantom for the left side head, which is the closest. The test result for the body-worn configuration is included in the following page. 042600/A Ch# 384 / Type of Modulation: CDMA 800 / Body Worn Evaluation Amy Twin Optics OFF; Section 1 Probe: ET3DV6 - SN1390 - Muscle ( Sugar Water ); ConvF(6.70,6.70,6.70); Crest factor: 1.0; Muscle 835 MHz: σ = 1.06 mho/m ε r = 52.1 ρ = 1.00 g/cm 3 Cube 5x5x7: Peak: 0.407 mW/g, SAR (1g): 0.273 mW/g, SAR (10g): 0.190 mW/g, (Worst-case extrapolation) SAR Tot [mW/g] 2.73E-2 5.46E-2 8.19E-2 1.09E-1 1.37E-1 1.64E-1 1.91E-1 2.18E-1 2.46E-1 2.73E-1 11/15/00 Motorola, Inc.

The RF power output was measured with the indicated voltage and current applied into the final RF amplifying device. The values measured for RF Output, DC Current and RF Input Power are all average values which reflect a-100% transmit duty cycle in CDMA operation. n Measured RF output : 24.3dBm n Measured DC voltage : 3.6V n Measured DC current : 760mA n Measured RF input : -4.8dBm Effective Radiated Power: The phone was tested in a 16' cubical anechoic chamber with a 2-axis positioner system that permits taking complete spherical scans of the AUT's radiation patterns. For all tests, the phone was supported in a free- space type environment, vertically oriented in the chamber. Tests were done for three frequencies (824.6, 836.52 and 848.37MHz) with antenna whip up and whip down. CDMA measurements were made with the phone placed in a call using the HP8924C mobile station test set. The phone was weakly coupled to the test set and configured to transmit in full data rate mode, with a nominal output power setting of 25dBm. Radiated power was measured at every 15 degree step from theta=0 to 165 degrees and phi=0 to 360 degrees. The radiated power was measured using a Gigatronics 8542C power meter in "Mod Avg" mode. From these measurements, the software calculates the angle at which maximum radiated power occurs for each case, and the radiated power at this angle was extracted from the data. The max radiated power results for CDMA follow, as EIRP in dBm. To get ERP (effective radiated power referenced to a half-wave dipole), subtract 2.1 dB from these numbers. CDMA, FIXED ANT 824.6 MHz: 22.04 dBm 836.52 MHz: 22.76 dBm 848.37 MHz: 22.26 dBm For all measurements, calibration was performed via gain substitution with a half-wave dipole. Maximum EIRP is 0.189 W (22.76 dBm) in CDMA mode.
