July 21, 2015 MPE Test Report for Motorola Wireless Charger (FCC ID IHDT6UA3) Prepared by: Steven Hauswirth, Distinguished Member of the Technical Staff Motorola Mobility, Product Safety & Compliance Laboratory Chicago, Illinois The Motorola Mobility Product Safety & Compliance Laboratory has evaluated the Motorola Wireless Charger (FCC ID IHDT6UA3) as a mobile device per 47 CFR §1.1310 titled “Radiofrequency radiation exposure limits”, generally referred to as MPE limits. In 47 CFR § 2.1091, paragraph (b) defines a mobile device as “a transmitting device designed to be used in other than fixed locations and to generally be used in such a way that a separation distance of at least 20 centimeters is normally maintained between the transmitter’s radiating structure(s) and the body of the user or nearby persons.” This product is intended to be installed into a vehicle such that the unit is physically secured at one location. In the installation guide supplied with the product, Motorola has made the following statement: “IMPORTANT: To meet the FCC’s RF Exposure Guidelines, the antenna should be installed so there is at least 20 cm of separation between the body of the user and nearby persons and the antenna”. Based on the installation of the transceiver and the antenna, the transmitters radiating structure is more than 20 centimeters from the user. Thus, this product is a “mobile device” as defined in section § 2.1091 paragraph (b). Table 1 (B) of 47 CFR §1.1310 lists the limits for MPE for the General Population: The ERP of a radiating structure was measured by coupling a receiver coil to the wireless charger to measure the transmitted power. Measured ERP = 1.07 W The MPE of a radiating structure can be calculated by knowing the transmit ERP and the distance at which MPE is being calculated. In this case MPE will be calculated at 20 cm, which is the minimum separation between the body of the user and nearby persons and the antenna. The calculations for the MPE are: S = ( Ef * ERP ) / [ 4 * Pi * (d^2) ] where: Ef = enhancement factor to account for ground reflections is 2.56 ERP = measured ERP d = distance from antenna (20 cm in our case) Alternatively; the E-field strength can be calculated For 0.16 MHz Operation: The peak transmit power ERP for this product is 1.07 W. The Power Density MPE is 0.545 mW/cm 2 . This is below the limit of 100 mW/cm 2 . Alternatively, the E-field Strength MPE is 28.3 V/m. This is below the limit of 614 V/m. Therefore, by requiring the user and nearby persons to remain at least 20 cm from the antenna, the MPE is not exceeded.

Initially, for all radiated emissions from 9 kHz to 30 MHz, the turntable is rotated 45 degrees to obtain a maximum reading on the spectrum analyzer using the peak detector function. All final readings are then taken at the worst case EUT orientation. Below 1000 MHz, the final radiated emissions are then measured using an EMI receiver employing a CISPR quasi-peak detector. The receiver used has an average detector function and an RMS detector function. All measurements are done at a 3 meter separation distance. The limit is adjusted using a 40 dB/decade factor as specified in FCC’s 15.31(f) (2). The emissions @ 110 kHz meet the radiated emissions requirement. The zoomed in plot shows measurement data taken at distance closer than the 3 meter test distance. The limit on the plot is for 3 meter test distance. The field strength of each radiated emission is …
