July 18, 2024 Federal Communications Commission Authorization and Evaluation Division 7435 Oakland Mills Road Columbia, MD 21046 Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada Certification and Engineering Bureau 3701 Carling Avenue PO Box 11490, Station H Ottawa, Ontario, Canada K2H 8S2 RE: Application for Certification: FCC ID: IPH-04349 IC: 1792A-04349 To Whom It May Concern: Pursuant to KDB 996369 and KDB 388624, Pre-Approval Guidance (PAG) is requested for the referenced Limited Modular Approval (LMA) under the PAG item MODLIM. For this Limited Module, it is necessary for the host, not the module, to provide voltage regulation as required under §15.212(a)(1)(iii). We attest that this Limited Module complies with the remaining requirements of §15.212(a)(1), as follows: (i) The radio elements of the modular transmitter have their own shielding. (ii) The modular transmitter has buffered modulation/data inputs. (iii) [voltage regulation is not provided as explained above] (iv) The modular transmitter complies with the antenna and transmission system requirements of §§ 15.203, 15.204(b) and 15.204(c). The antenna will either be permanently attached in the host systems or employ unique antenna connections. (v) The modular transmitter was tested in a stand-alone configuration. (vi) The modular transmitter is equipped with a permanently affixed label, including the unique FCC ID and IC certification numbers referenced above. The OEM Manual includes instructions for the integrator to label or e-label the host with the text “CONTAINS... FCC ID: IPH-04349” and “CONTAINS... IC: 1792A-04349.” (vii) This Limited Module complies with all the requirements of a Single Transmitter Module when integrated into hosts which implement the voltage regulation requirements specified in the OEM Manual. (viii) This limited module complies with the MPE requirements of mobile equipment at a minimum separation distance of 20 cm. For portable hosts, the OEM Manual explains that SAR testing is required. The following grant notes apply to this application: This Module is limited, requiring the host integrator to perform additional testing as provided by the manufacturer's integration instructions for regulation of power supply voltages provided by the host. The maximum antenna gain of 6 dBi is allowed in-band (0 – 2200 MHz). The maximum antenna gain of 9 dBi is allowed out-of-band (above 2200 MHz). This module can only be used when installed in a host device that follows the required instructions for use of a trace reference design. Thank you for your attention to this PAG request. Sincerely, Dan Irish Lead Compliance Engineer Garmin International, Inc.
