The keypad buttons are programmed with a personal computer using the HomeWorksUtility. Up to 32 keypads, each with a unique address, can be assigned to each HomeWorksRF Processor. HRD-5KP HRD-10KP HRD-10RL HRD-5RL Important Notes Codes:Install in accordance with all local and national electrical codes. Environment:Ambient operating temperature: 0-40°C, 32-104°F, 0-90% humidity, non-condensing. Indoor use only. Wallplates:Lutron Claro ®and Satin ColorsTMwallplates are recommended for best color match and clean aes- thetic appearance. Do not paint controls or wallplates. Cleaning:To clean, wipe with a clean damp cloth. DO NOTuse any chemical cleaning solutions. Wallboxes: Lutron recommends using 3-1/2 in. (89 mm) deep wallboxes for easier installation. RF Device Placement:RF Keypads must be located within 30 feet (9 m) of an RF Signal Repeater or an RF Processor. RF Keypads will not function until they are addressed and programmed. See the HomeWorksUtility online help. 2 Mounting Diagram Wallbox Keypad Mounting Screws Keypad Adapter Mounting Screws Wallplate and Adapter are purchased separately. 1.Turn power OFF at fusebox or circuit breaker. Danger - Locate and remove fuse or lock circuit breaker in the OFF position before proceeding. Wiring with power ON may result in personal injury. 2.Prepare wires. When making wire connections, fol- low the recommended strip lengths and combina- tions for the supplied wire connectors. Note: Wire connectors provided are suitable for copper wire only. Small: Strip insulation 3/8 in. (10 mm) for 14 AWG (2.5 mm 2 ). Strip insulation 1/2 in. (13 mm) for 16 AWG (1.5 mm 2 ). Use to join one 14 AWG supply wire with one 16 or 18 AWG (1.0 mm 2 ) control wire. 3.Wiring: See Wiring Diagram (page 3). 4.Push all wires back into the wallbox and loosely fasten the control to the wallbox using the keypad mounting screws provided. Do not pinch the wires. 5.Attach Lutron Claro®or Satin ColorsTM wallplate adapter and wallplate. a. Loosely install keypad mounting screws. b. Tighten wallplate adapter mounting screws snug. c. RSI-2709E ii SUMMARY OF TEST RESULTS The Model #: HRD-5KP, configured as described herein, FULLY COMPLIES WITH THE REQUIREMENTS SET FORTH IN SUBPART B AND C OF PART 15 OF THE FED- ERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION (FCC) RULES FOR INTENTIONAL AND UNINTENTIONAL RADIATORS. RADIATION SCIENCES INC. RSI-2709E 1 1.0 INTRODUCTION This document is a report of tests to determine the EME characteristics of the Model #: HRD- 5KP, presented by Lutron Electronics of Coopersburg, Pennsylvania. The purpose of the testing was to evaluate the EMC characteristics of the test sample with re- spect to Subpart B and C of Part 15 of the FCC Rules for intentional and unintentional radiators. All test procedures used meet the requirements of the American National Standards Institute Procedure C63:4: "Methods of Measurement of Radio-Noise Emissions from Low-Voltage Electrical and Electronic Equipment in the Range of 9kHz to 40GHz", dated 17 July 1992. RADIATION SCIENCES INC. RSI-2709E 2 2.0 DESCRIPTION OF THE TEST SAMPLE: The Lutron Electronics HRD-5KP is a wireless wall keypad operating between 431 and 437MHz. The keypad can be programmed to control any light or group of lights. The unit is powered by 115VAC and contains clock signals of 14.756 and 32.0MHz. The “5” notation in the 5KP Part Number denotes the number of buttons available in the device. The unit tested for FCC compliance was an HRD-5KP, which signifies that it was a 5- button/scene device. Depending on the configuration of the unit, this number can be substituted with other numeral designations. RADIATION SCIENCES INC. RSI-2709E 3 3.0 TEST INSTRUMENTATION RSICAL INVDUE NO. RADIATION SCIENCES INC. 1986.01 APPENDIX I TO RADIATION SCIENCES INC. FCC TEST REPORT NO. RSI-2709E PREPARED FOR : Lutron Electronics 7200 Suter Road Coopersburg, PA 18036 SUBMITTED BY : Radiation Sciences Inc. 3131 Detwiler Road Harleysville, PA 19438 PREPARED BY : ____________________ Daniel J. Signore President Radiation Sciences Inc. RADIATION SCIENCES INC. RSI-2709E Appendix I 1 1.0 INTRODUCTION This Appendix I to Radiation Sciences Inc. (RSI) FCC Test Report # RSI-2709E has been pre- pared in response to test report review comments submitted to Lutron Electronics by Mr. Chris Harvey, EMC Consultants, LLC. The RSI responses to three review comments are included herein. RADIATION SCIENCES INC. RSI-2709E Appendix I 2 2.0 RESPONSE TO TEST REPORT REVIEW COMMENTS 2.1 ANSI C63.4 (1992 Issue Versus 2003 Issue) COMMENT : The test report indicates that testing was performed in accordance with ANSI C63.4:1992. Please verify that testing was actually performed in accordance with the required ANSI C63.4:2003 (in- cluding OATS NSA Compliance). RESPONSE: a) The use of the 1992 date by RSI was in error. A previous report prepared by Radiation Sci- ences Inc. for Lutron was used as a mark-up (boilerplate) and RSI overlooked the specification date. The testing was performed in accordance with ANSI C63.4:2003. b) Regarding OATS NSA Compliance; 1) A complete OATS NSA report was submitted and FCC-approved on 23 July 2003. A copy of the subsequent approval letter is included herein as Figure 1. 2) In addition, RSI successfully met the A2LA audit requirements for FCC testing on 2 No- vember 2004. During this audit, a partial NSA test of the OATS was witnessed by the A2LA-appointed auditor. Copies of the A2LA certificate and scope are shown in Figures 2 and 3, respectively. RADIATION SCIENCES INC. RSI-2709E Appendix I 3 Figure 1 RADIATION SCIENCES INC. RSI-2709E Appendix I 4 Figure 2 RADIATION SCIENCES INC. RSI-2709E Appendix I 5 Figure 3 RADIATION SCIENCES INC. RSI-2709E Appendix I 6 2.2 AVERAGING FACTORS COMMENT : Please provide a calculation and description of the limit used for the averaging factor used. Is this device compliant with the 15.231(a) or 15.231(e) limit? RESPONSE : a) Figure 4 herein presents the calculation of the -20dB averaging factor used. b) The Lutron Electronics model HRD-5KP was tested to and found compliant with 15.231(a). RADIATION SCIENCES INC. RSI-2709E Appendix I 7 Figure 4 RADIATION SCIENCES INC. RSI-2709E Appendix I 8 2.3 Bandwidth Data Instrumentation COMMENT : The bandwidth data has been presented without an explanation of the test equipment used or the settings for that equipment. Please either provide bandwidth plots (that contain this information) or provide more description of this test to include these items. RESPONSE : RSI used an HP 8566B Spectrum Analyzer to perform bandwidth measurements (see Figure 5). The resolution bandwidth of the spectrum analyzer was 10kHz (see Figure 6). RADIATION SCIENCES INC.
