Taking Care of the V5 Flybook After you unpack your computer, store the packing materials in case you want to ship the computer or if you have to return it for servicing. Your notebook computer is a precision instrument that should be handled with care. Use common sense and follow the guidelines below, and your computer will last you for many years. Do’s and don’ts with the V5 Flybook y Do not twist the display counterclockwise. y Do not place heavy objects such as books on the computer. y Do not storage the computer to temperatures above 50° C or below 0° C. y Keep the computer away from direct sunlight or heat sources. y Do not expose the computer to rain or moisture. y Do not spill water or any other liquid on the computer. y Do not place the computer near magnetic fields. y Avoid subjecting your computer to heavy shocks or vibrations. y Do not expose the computer to dusty or dirty environments. y Do not place the computer on uneven surfaces. y Do not cover the air vents around the computer. y Only use the ac adapter that is provided with your computer. iv — Safety Information The V5 Flybook has been designed and tested to meet the most recent stan- dards of safety in notebook technology equipment. To ensure safe use of the V5 Flybook, refer to the following safety instructions and any caution or warn- ing messages on the equipment or in the user manual. •Read and follow all instructions marked on the V5 Flybook and in the user manual before operating the V5. Store all safety information in a secure place for future reference. •Do not use the V5 Flybook near water or a heat source such as a radiator. •Always set the V5 Flybook on a stable surface. •Only operate the V5 Flybook from the type of power source indicated on the rating label on the AC adapter. •Ensure all ventilation openings are not blocked or covered. Keep an ade- quate space (around 6 inches or 15 cm) around the V5 Flybook. Never insert objects of any kind into the ventilation openings. •When using an extension cord with the V5 Flybook, ensure that the total ampere rating on the equipment connected to the cord does not exceed the extension cord ampere rating maximum value. •Only use the supplied power cord. V5W1BBHA originally has an embedded detector to detect whether the device is in tablet mode. Therefore, we can release a new Firmware to disable the WLAN and WWAN transmission and disable the manual turn-on function by users when it detects the device is used in tablet mode. The new Firmware will make sure that WLAN and WWAN can not be transmitted automatically or manually, so it avoids transmission of WLAN and WWAN when the antennas touch the user body. Fig. 4: in the process of changing to tablet PC mode, when the angle is smaller than 25 degree, Type Switch on the main board will sense the magnet inside of the panel and then turn off WWAN and WiFi. V5W1BBHA Technical Operations on Tablet-Mode Sensor H/W: V5W1BBHA (FCC ID: JYV-V5W1BBHA) embeds a Reed Switch, which is a magnetic sensor. When V5W1BBHA is in the tablet PC mode, the Reed Switch will be in active mode. Because the Reed Switch active signal is connected to GPIO pin of Embedded Controller, Embedded Controller will have V5W1BBHA status information. F/W: When Reed Switch is in active mode, Embedded Controller will disable 1. WLAN and WWAN transmission 2. WWAN and WLAN function in Flybook Control Center 3. hot key, Fn+F8 and Fn+F9 on keyboard The new F/W version is ready. Based on the H/W and F/W algorithm, when V5W1BBHA is in tablet PC mode, Embedded Controller of V5W1BBHA will turn off the possible WLAN and WWAN transmission and disable the WLAN and WWAN function both by Flybook Control Center, and by hot key on keyboard. Use its "Burn Image to Disc" function. Select the ".iso" file that you just unzipped. 2.6 Burn a V5 EC/BIOS update CD. 2.7 Reboot your FlyBook V5W1BBHA with the support of the “V5 EC/BIOS update CD” that you just burned.
