The Card features 802.11g and 802.11a technology, which allows you to share networked files and resources wirelessly. The Card works like a conventional network card, but without the wires. It uses revolutionary 108 Technology to achieve data rates up to 108Mbps, when used with 108 Technology routers. In addition, the Card features eXtended Range (XR™) Technology, which doubles the coverage area of standard 802.11g and 802.11a networks when used with XR routers. Belkin’s easy installation and setup will have you networking in minutes. Please be sure to read through this User Manual completely, and pay special attention to the section entitled “Placement of your Wireless Networking Hardware for Optimal Performance”. Advantages of a Wireless Network • Mobility – you no longer need a dedicated “computer room”—you can work on a networked desktop computer anywhere within your wireless range • Easy installation – Belkin Easy Installation Wizards make setup simple • Flexibility – set up and access printers, computers, and other networking devices from anywhere in your home • Easy expansion – the wide range of Belkin networking products let you expand your network to include devices such as printers and gaming consoles • No cabling required – you can spare the expense and hassle of retrofitting Ethernet cabling throughout the home or office • Widespread industry acceptance – choose from a wide range of interoperable networking products Introduction 2 2 Placement of your Wireless Networking Hardware for Optimal Performance Your wireless connection will be stronger the closer your computer is to your router (or access point). Typical indoor operating range for wireless devices is between 100 and 200 feet. In the same way, your wireless connection and performance will degrade somewhat as the distance between your router (or access point) and connected devices increases. This may or may not be noticeable to you. As you move farther from your router (or access point), connection speed may decrease. Factors that can weaken signals simply by getting in the way of your network’s radio waves are metal appliances or obstructions, and walls. If you have concerns about your network’s performance that might be related to range or obstruction factors, try moving the computer to a position between five and 10 feet from the router (or access point) in order to see if distance is the problem. If difficulties persist even at close range, please contact Belkin Technical Support. Note: While some of the items listed below can affect network performance, they will not prohibit your wireless network from functioning; if you are concerned that your network is not operating at its maximum effectiveness, this checklist may help. 1. Wireless Router or Access Point Placement Place your router (or access point), the central connection point of your network, as close as possible to the center of your wireless network devices. To achieve the best wireless network coverage for your “wireless clients” (i.e., computers enabled by Belkin Wireless Notebook Network Cards, Wireless Desktop Network Cards, and Wireless USB Adapters): • Ensure that your router’s (or access point’s) networking antennas are parallel to each other, and are positioned vertically (toward the ceiling). If your router (or access point) itself is positioned vertically, point the antennas as much as possible in an upward direction. • In multistory homes, place the router (or a…

FCC ID: K7S-F6D3000 Report No.RF930910L07A Technical Description The transmitter of the EUT (Belkin Wireless A/G Desktop Network Card) is powered by host equipment via a PCI interface. The antenna types used in this product is Dipole antenna with UFL antenna connector. Under normal use condition, the user has to keep at least 20cm separation distance between radiator and the body of the user. This device is a Belkin Wireless A/G Desktop Network Card, which operates in both of the 5GHz and 2.4GHz bands and can transmitting simultaneously, the maximum data rate could be 54Mbps. For more detailed instruction, please take a look at the user’s manual. FCC 15.407(c) states: The device shall automatically discontinue transmission in case of either absence of information to transmit or operational failure. These provisions are not intended to preclude the transmission of control or signaling information or the use of repetitive codes used by certain digital technologies to complete frame or burst intervals. Applicants shall include in their application for equipment authorization a description of hoe this requirement is met” Data transmission is always initiated by software, which is then pass down through the MAC, through the digital and analog baseband, and finally to the RF chip. Several special packets (ACKs, CTS, PSPoll, etc...) are initiated by the MAC. There are the only ways the digital baseband portion will turn on the RF transmitter, which it then turns off at the end of the packet. Therefore, the transmitter will be on only while one of the aforementioned packets are being transmitted.
FCC ID: K7S-F6D3000 Report No: SA930910L07A 1 RF EXPOSURE REPORT REPORT NO.: SA930910L07A MODEL NO.: F6D3000 ACCORDING: FCC Guidelines for Human Exposure IEEE C95.1 APPLICANT: Belkin Corporation ADDRESS: 501 West Walnut Avenue Compton, CA 90220 ISSUED BY: Advance Data Technology Corporation LAB ADDRESS: 47 14th Ling, Chia Pau Tsuen, Lin Kou Hsiang 244, Taipei Hsien, Taiwan, R.O.C. TEST LOCATION: No. 19, Hwa Ya 2nd Rd., Wen Hwa Tsuen, Kwei Shan Hsiang, Taoyuan Hsien 333, Taiwan, R.O.C. FCC ID: K7S-F6D3000 Report No: SA930910L07A 2 RF Exposure Measurement (Mobile Device) 1. Introduction In this document, we try to prove the safety of radiation harmfulness to the human body for our product. The limit for Maximum Permissible Exposure (MPE) specified in FCC 1.1310 is followed. The Gain of the antenna used in this product is measured in a Fully Anechoic Chamber (FAC) calibrated for antenna measurement in ADT, and also the maximum total power input to the antenna is measured. Through the Friis transmission formula and the maximum gain of the antenna, we can calculate the distance, away from the product, where the limit of MPE is reached. Although the Friis transmission formula is a far field assumption, the calculated result of that is an over-prediction for near field power density. We will take that as the worst case to specify the safety range. 2. RF Exposure Limit According to FCC 1.1310: The criteria listed in the following table shall be used to evaluate the environmental impact of human exposure to radio-frequency (RF) radiation as specified in 1.1307(b) LIMITS FOR MAXIMUM PERMISSIBLE EXPOSURE (MPE) Frequency Range (MHz) Electric Field Strength (V/m) Magnetic Field Strength (A/m) Power Density (mW/cm 2 ) Average Time (minutes) (A)Limits For Occupational / Control Exposures 300-1500......F/3006 1500-100,000......56 (B)Limits For General Population / Uncontrolled Exposure 300-1500......F/15006 1500-100,000......1.030 F = Frequency in MHz FCC ID: K7S-F6D3000 Report No: SA930910L07A 3 3. Friis Formula Friis transmission formula : Pd = (Pout*G) / (4*pi*r 2 ) where Pd = power density in mW/cm 2 Pout = output power to antenna in mW G = gain of antenna in linear scale Pi = 3.1416 R = distance between observation point and center of the radiator in cm If we know the maximum Gain of the antenna and the total power input to the antenna, through the calculation, we will know the MPE value at distance 20cm. Ref. : David K. Cheng, Field and Wave Electromagnetics, Second Edition, Page 640, Eq. (11-133). 4 EUT Operating condition The software provided by Manufacturer enabled the EUT to transmit and receive data at lowest, middle and highest channel individually. 5. Classification This device is not fixed inside the host equipment, it is connected with host through wire. So it is easy to be re-located in the place where at least 20cm far away from the body of the user. Warning statement to the user for keeping at least 20cm or more separation distance with the antenna should be included in users manual. So, this device is classified as Mobile Device.
