User Manual TuneCast ™ Universal The innovative TuneCast Universal from Belkin is designed to power and transmit audio from your iPod or MP3 player to your car stereo. Please review this User Manual carefully so that you can be sure you’ll get the most from your TuneCast Universal, virtually anywhere you go. Introduction 1. For AUDIO: Plug the 3.5mm headphone jack into your iPod or MP3 player and the cigarette-lighter adapter into your car’s cigarette-lighter outlet. 2. For MOUNTING: Use multi-mount socket and mount with adhesive backing to attach your TuneCast Universal to any smooth surface. 3. Tune your car stereo frequency to a channel with a weak broadcast signal. The ideal channel is one that is not picking up a signal from a radio station, or is doing so weakly. 4. Press the or button on the TuneCast Universal to select the transmission frequency chosen in step 3 on your car for broadcast. Press and hold either button for fast-forward or backward tuning. Setup Instructions 5. Your TuneCast Universal can memorize up to two different frequencies so you can recall them quickly later. a. Select the desired frequency using the or buttons. b. Press and hold the MI or MII button for two seconds. When the MI or MII icon blinks, release the button. 6. Adjust the volume of your FM radio to the desired listening level.* *Due to characteristics of FM transmission, you will experience better sound quality by adjusting the volume on your car stereo when necessary, and by leaving your iPod volume at a medium level. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular inst allation. Belkin International , Inc., is not responsible for any interference caused by unauthorized modifications to this equipment. Such modifications could voi d the user’s authority to operate this equipment. Information Belkin International, Inc., Limited 3-Year Product Warranty What this warranty covers. Belkin International, Inc. (“Belkin”) warrants to the original purchaser of this Belkin product that the product shall be free of defects in design, assembly, material, or workmanship. What the period of coverage is. Belkin warrants the Belkin product for three years. What will we do to correct problems? Product Warranty. Belkin will repair or replace, at its option, any defective product free of charge (except for shipping charges for the product). What is not covered by this warranty? All above warranties are null and void if the Belkin product is not provided to Belkin for inspection upon Belkin’s request at the sole expense of the purchaser, or if Belkin determines that the Belkin product has been improperly installed, altered in any way, or tampered with. The Belkin Product Warranty does not protect against acts of God such as flood, lightning, earthquake, war, vandalism, theft, normal-use wear and tear, erosion, depletion, obsolescence, abuse, damage due to low voltage disturbances (i.e. brownouts or sags), non-authorized program, or system equipment modification or alteration. How to get service. To get service for your Belkin product you must take the following steps: 1. Contact Belkin International, Inc., at 501 W. Walnut St., Compton, CA 90220, Attn: Customer Service, or call (800)-223-5546, within 15 days of the Occurrence. Be prepared to provide the following information: a. The part number of the Belkin product. b. Where you purchased the product. c. When you purchased the product. d. Copy of original receipt. 2. Your Belkin Customer Service Representative will then instruct you on how to forward your receipt and Belkin product and how to proceed with your claim. Belkin reserves the right to review the damaged Belkin product. All costs of shipping the Belkin product to Belkin for inspection shall be borne solely by the purchaser. If Belkin determines, in its sole discretion, that it is impractical to ship the damaged equipment to Belkin, Belkin may designate, in its sole discretion, an equipment repair facility to inspect and estimate the cost to repair such equipment. The cost, if any, of shipping the equipment to and from such repair facility and of such estimate shall be borne solely by the purchaser. Damaged equipment must remain available for inspection until the claim is finalized. Whenever claims are settled, Belkin reserves the right to be subrogated under any existing insurance policies the purchaser may have. Description: The Equipment Under Test (EUT) is a Belkin International INC., TUNECAST UNIVERSAL INLINE * CLA/3.5MM HEADPHONE JACK. The transmitter is a four button transmitter. The EUT continues to transmit while button is being pressed. Modulation by audio input; and type is frequency modulation. Q1: Describe the operation of the device A1: (Please see user manual) The transmitter is a voice transmitter operating at 88.1-107.9MHz band. The transmitter is powered by a 12V.d.c. and the transmitting frequency is IC controlled. The operation is achieved by different combinations of form frequency modulating signal on the 88.1-107.9MHz carrier frequency. Q2: Provide information on the device and its antenna. A2: There is no external ground connection. The ground is only that of the printed circuit board. Electric current is supplied by a 12Volt car battery. Q3: How is it installed? A3: (Please see user manual) Q4: Describe the test procedure used. A4: ANSI C63.4 test method is adopted. Q5: If tested in a car, describe how was it configured and tested. A5: We just test on test table according to ANSI C63.4 and product not mentions use on the car. Q6: At the present time, FM transmitters (subject to 15.239) tested in vehicles must also be tested on a test table. Provide both sets of data. All data must be compliant A6: Please see test report. Q7: Was the tuning range properly verified? The test lab should indicate in the report that the tuning controls were manually adjusted to verify maximum tuning range. A8: During the test, we would use MP3 or CD player input audio signal to EUT and turn max. volume with different sound (e.g.: very loud song) in order to get worst result.
