FCC ID: KA2WA552A1 Report No.: RF950703L07 OPERATIONAL DESCRIPTION This device is a D-Link DWA-552 Xtreme N™ Desktop Adapter, which operates in the 2.4GHz frequency spectrum with throughput of up to 300Mbps which OFDM technique will be applied. If the signal to noise radio is too poor which could not support 300Mbps, the 11Mbps data rate with DSSS technique will be applied. The transmitter of the EUT is powered by host equipment. The antenna is dipole antenna with R-SMA antenna connector. For more detailed instruction, please take a look at the user’s manual.
FCC ID: KA2WA552A1 Report No: SA950703L07 1 RF EXPOSURE REPORT REPORT NO.: SA950703L07 MODEL NO.: DWA-552 OEM MODEL NO.: DWA-547 ACCORDING: FCC Guidelines for Human Exposure IEEE C95.1 APPLICANT: D-Link Corporation ADDRESS: 17595 Mt. Herrmann, Fountain Valley, CA 92708, U.S.A. ISSUED BY: Advance Data Technology Corporation LAB ADDRESS: No. 47, 14th Ling, Chia Pau Tsuen, Lin Kou Hsiang 244, Taipei Hsien, Taiwan, R.O.C. TEST LOCATION: No. 19, Hwa Ya 2nd Rd., Wen Hwa Tsuen, Kwei Shan Hsiang, Taoyuan Hsien 333, Taiwan, R.O.C. FCC ID: KA2WA552A1 Report No: SA950703L07 2 RF EXPOSURE MEASUREMENT (MOBILE DEVICE) 1. INTRODUCTION In this document, we try to prove the safety of radiation harmfulness to the human body for our product. The limit for Maximum Permissible Exposure (MPE) specified in FCC 1.1310 is followed. The Gain of the antenna used in this product is measured in a Fully Anechoic Chamber (FAC) calibrated for antenna measurement in ADT, and also the maximum total power input to the antenna is measured. Through the Friis transmission formula and the maximum gain of the antenna, we can calculate the distance, away from the product, where the limit of MPE is reached. Although the Friis transmission formula is a far field assumption, the calculated result of that is an over-prediction for near field power density. We will take that as the worst case to specify the safety range. 2. RF EXPOSURE LIMIT According to FCC 1.1310: The criteria listed in the following table shall be used to evaluate the environmental impact of human exposure to radio-frequency (RF) radiation as specified in 1.1307(b) LIMITS FOR MAXIMUM PERMISSIBLE EXPOSURE (MPE) FREQUENCY RANGE (MHz) ELECTRIC FIELD STRENGTH (V/m) MAGNETIC FIELD STRENGTH (A/m) POWER DENSITY (mW/cm 2 ) AVERAGE TIME (minutes) (A)LIMITS FOR OCCUPATIONAL / CONTROL EXPOSURES 300-1500......F/3006 1500-100,000......56 (B)LIMITS FOR GENERAL POPULATION / UNCONTROLLED EXPOSURE 300-1500......F/15006 1500-100,000......1.030 F = Frequency in MHz FCC ID: KA2WA552A1 Report No: SA950703L07 3 3. FRIIS FORMULA Friis transmission formula : Pd = (Pout*G) / (4*pi*r 2 ) where Pd = power density in mW/cm 2 Pout = output power to antenna in mW G = gain of antenna in linear scale Pi = 3.1416 R = distance between observation point and center of the radiator in cm If we know the maximum Gain of the antenna and the total power input to the antenna, through the calculation, we will know the MPE value at distance r. EUT OPERATING CONDITION The software provided by Manufacturer enabled the EUT to transmit and receive data at lowest, middle and highest channel individually. 5. CLASSIFICATION This device is fixed inside the host equipment. Warning statement to the user for keeping at least 20cm or more separation distance with the antenna should be included in users manual. So, this device is classified as Mobile Device. FCC ID: KA2WA552A1 Report No: SA950703L07 4 6. Report No.: RF950703L07117Report Format Version 2.0.4 4.6.3 TEST PROCEDURE a. The EUT was placed on the top of a rotating table 0.8 meters above the ground at a 3 meter semi-anechoic chamber. The table was rotated 360 degrees to determine the position of the highest radiation. b. The EUT was set 3 meters away from the interference-receiving antenna, which was mounted on the top of a variable-height antenna tower. c. The antenna is a broadband antenna, and its height is varied from one meter to four meters above the ground to determine the maximum value of the field strength. Both horizontal and vertical polarizations of the antenna are set to make the measurement. d. For each suspected emission, the EUT was arranged to its worst case and then the antenna was tuned to heights from 1 meter to 4 meters and the rotatable table was turned from 0 degrees to 360 degrees to find the maximum reading. e. Set both RBW and VBW of spectrum analyzer to 100kHz with suitable frequency span including 100MHz bandwidth from band edge. The band edges was measured and recorded. The spectrum plots (Peak RBW = VBW = 100kHz; Average RBW = 1MHz, VBW = 10Hz) NOTE: The resolution bandwidth of test receiver/spectrum analyzer is 1 MHz and the video bandwidth is 10Hz for Average detection (AV) at frequency above 1GHz. 4.6.4 DEVIATION FROM TEST STANDARD No deviation 4.6.5 EUT OPERATING CONDITION Same as Item 4.3.6. Report No.: RF950703L07118Report Format Version 2.0.4 4.6.6 TEST RESULTS The spectrum plots a…
