The module is intended to perform two functions: RKE (Remote Keyless Entry) and TPM (Tire Pressure Monitoring). The receiver is to be mounted in the vehicle and will work in conjunction with the 315 MHz handheld transmitter and tire sensors. The receiver base-station is part of a keyless entry system that can be used to perform certain functions such as lock and unlock of the driver and passenger doors, open the trunk, etc... depending on how the receiver module is programmed. The receiver is also part of a tire pressure monitoring system that take be used to check the pressure and/or temperature of the vehicle’s tires. There are different housings this receiver module will be mounted in and will have a DaimlerChrysler/Lear part number stamped on the back of the housing. The PCB, microprocessor and RF circuitry on all versions are identical. TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION When the buttons on the handheld transmitter is depressed, a RF modulated signal is generated that will only be recognized by a matched receiver matching the correct data protocol. The code is carried by 315 MHz carrier with AM OOK (on-off keying) modulation and demodulated by the receiver basestation. The data code is of a Manchester modulation format to express bits “0” and “1”. RF detection is accomplished with an off-board wire antenna internal to the receiver base-station. The receiver is of a super-heterodyne, single conversion, narrow band architecture that demodulates the RF transmission present on the off-board antenna. Demodulated data is then made available to the system microprocessor that decodes the transmitted message and performs the desired function. The local oscillator is a PLL crystal-based system with a frequency tolerance of ± 16kHz. When the tire sensors are actuated either by pressure, rotational force or triggered, a RF modulated signal is generated that will be recognized by a receiver matching the correct data protocol. The code is carried by 315 MHz carrier with FM FSK (frequency shift keying) modulation and demodulated by the receiver base-station. The data code is of a Manchester modulation format to express bits “0” and “1”. RF detection is accomplished with an off-board wire antenna internal to the receiver base-station. The receiver is of a super-heterodyne, single conversion, narrow band architecture that demodulates the RF transmission present on the off-board antenna. Brunett Research Scientist Summary Tests for compliance with FCC Regulations Part 15, Subpart B, and Industry Canada RSS-210, were performed on Lear Corporation model NG WCM. This device is subject to the Rules and Regulations as a Receiver. As a Digital Device it is exempt, but such measurements were made to assess the receiver's overall emissions. In testing completed on March 10, 2006, the device tested in the worst case met the allowed FCC (Class B) specifications for radiated emissions by 12.8 dB (see p. 6). The conducted emissions tests do not apply, since the device is powered from a 12 VDC system. Introduction Lear Corporation model NG WCM was tested for compliance with FCC Regulations, Part 15, adopted under Docket 87-389, April 18, 1989, and with Industry Canada RSS-210, Issue 6 and RSS-Gen, Issue 1, September, 2005. The tests were performed at the University of Michigan Radiation Laboratory Willow Run Test Range following the procedures described in ANSI C63.4-2003 "Methods of Measurement of Radio-Noise Emissions from Low-Voltage Electrical and Electronic Equipment in the Range of 9 kHz to 40 GHz". The Site description and attenuation characteristics of the Open Site facility are on file with FCC Laboratory, Columbia, Maryland (FCC Reg. No: 91050) and with Industry Canada, Ottawa, ON (File Ref. Configuration and Identification of Device Under Test The DUT is a 315 MHz superheterodyne receiver, designed for onboard automobile security/convenience applications, and as such, it is powered from an automotive 12 VDC source. It is housed in a plastic case approximately 6 by 3 by 1.5 inches. RF antenna is mounted on the PCB. For testing, a generic harness was provided by the manufacturer. In the receiver digital section, the decoding, signal processing, etc. are performed by a microprocessor timed by an 16.0 MHz oscillator. The DUT was designed by Lear Corporation, 5200 Auto Club Dr., Dearborn, MI 48126-9982. Within the WA and WB series, the devices differ only in the orientation of their LF coils.
