RE: Lear Corporation FCC ID: KOBFR04D186 This is in response to the comments made on the above application. 1) The 731 form shows that this application is for a receiver. However, from the operational and internal photographs this is not easily determined. Please provide a photograph that shows/labels the portion of the device that is the RX and also the antenna for the RX. Additional internal photographs have been uploaded demonstrating the RX circuitry and the antenna. 2) The block diagram should show the frequencies of the oscillator within the device (CFR 2.1033(a)(5)). Please provide an updated version that includes this information. A revised Block Diagram has been uploaded. 3) Please provide a higher resolution schematic. The values/designators were not distinguishable. A higher resolution schematic has been requested from the manufacturer and will be uploaded as soon as possible. 4) The label appears to show the FCC ID as KOBFR04D186, while the label appears as KOBFRO4D186. Please confirm which FCC ID Number is correct using a β€˜0’ or β€˜O’. This is a simple typo, the FCC ID is KOBFR04D186 and a revised ID label has been uploaded. 5) Please provide a photograph that shows the placement of the label on the device. See revised ID Label & Location Exhibit.

Operational Description

Date Created: September 11, 2002 D186 MY04 Smart Junction Box The SJB described herein forms the foundation of the Body Electrical/Electronic Subsystem. The SJB combines the Generic Electronics Module (GEM) and Junction Box (JB) into a single entity for the 2004 Taurus. The SJB is an electronic assembly consisting of two separate PCBs – one for high current loads (HCB) and the other for the low current electronics (LCB). The HCB is single sided with components populated on one side while the LCB is doubled sided with components populated on both sides. All relays are located on the HCB or external to the SJB in the Power Distribution Center (PDC). The SJB monitors and controls vehicle functions as described below: β€’ Replaces currently used Junction Box/Electronic module combinations β€’ Uses standard 4 Layer PCB that supports the low current electronics β€’ Uses 400 micron PCB that supports the high current loads β€’ Provides diagnostic capability via the ISO-9141 protocol β€’ Flash micro-controller allows software updates via the vehicles OBDII connector using standard Ford tools. β€’ Provides features such as battery saver, courtesy lighting, remote keyless entry, daytime running lamps, front wiper and washer control, front fog lighting, CAN Bus communication, driver’s one- touch-down and power door locks via solid state electronics and electromechanical relays. β€’ Provides fused pass through circuits from 5A to 30A for power distribution β€’ Reduces vehicle assembly time by reducing the number of components - Size, weight, and cost of multiple modules is optimized β€’ Vehicle key off load is optimized when combining multiple sleep nodes such as RF and GEM into a single module. β€’ Compliant with Ford’s Electronic Component Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) standard ES- XW7T-1A278-AB Contact Person: Gerald Grabowski, Project Leader Ford SJB Junction Box Engineering Phone (313) 593-9604
