You now have an exclusive DIRECTV® Universal Remote Control that will control four components, including a DIRECTV Receiver, TV, and two stereo or video components (for example, a DVD, stereo, or second TV). Moreover, its sophisticated technology allows you to consolidate the clutter of your original remote controls into one easy-to-use unit that's packed with features such as: •Four-position MODE slide switch for easy component selection •Code library for popular video and stereo components •Code search to help program control of older or discontinued components •Memory protection to ensure you will not have to re-program the remote when the bat- teries are replaced Before using your DIRECTV Universal Remote Control, you may need to program it to operate with your particular component. Please follow the instructions detailed in this guide to set up your DIRECTV Universal Remote Control so you can start enjoying its features. Slide the MODE switch to the DIRECTV, AV1, AV2 or TV positions to select the component you want to control. A green LED under each switch position indicates the component being controlled. Press TV INPUT to select the available inputs on your TV. Note: Additional setup is required to activate the TV INPUT key. See instructions on page 10. Press FORMAT to cycle through the resolution and screen formats. Each press of the key cycles to the next available format and /or resolution. (Not available on all DIRECTV Receivers) Press PWR to turn the selected component on or off. Press TV POWER ON/OFF to turn the TV and DIRECTV Receiver on or off. (Note: These keys are only active after the remote has been setup for your TV. See page 10). Use these keys to control your DVR, VCR, DVD, or CD/DVD player. Records a program. Jumps back 6 seconds and plays video from that location. Jumps ahead in a recording. Use GUIDE to display the DIRECTV program guide. Mr. Fujimoto: In order for processing of this application (FCC ID: MG32481) to continue, the following issue(s) will have to be addressed: 1) The test data uses a duty cycle correction factor to determine the average reading, however, this is only permitted for transmitters that use pulsed modulation and the operational description only mentions FSK modulation as being used. Please provide data that is averaged by using the appropriate averaging method since FSK modulation is being used or please explain why the use of this duty cycle correction factor is being used. 2) The test report mentions that the antenna is hardwired, however, photos show a PCB trace style antenna. Please clarify the antenna type. 3) The “Instruction to the User” statement that is required in the owner’s manual is missing the statement “which can be verified by turning the equipment off and on”. Please submit a corrected owner’s manual with the corrected “Instruction to the User” statement. 4) The file for the internal photos is too large. Please reduce the size of the file to less than 3 Mb and re-submit. The item(s) indicated above must be submitted before processing can continue on the above referenced application. Correspondence by Project Project Number: Correspondence Number Memo MG32481 -1 1) The test data uses a duty cycle correction factor to determine the average reading, however, this is only permitted for transmitters that use pulsed modulation and the operational description only mentions FSK modulation as being used. Please provide data that is averaged by using the appropriate averaging method since FSK modulation is being used or please explain why the use of this duty cycle correction factor is being used. Response: The modulation is both FSK AND Pulse modulation, thus a duty cycle correction factor is required. 2) The test report mentions that the antenna is hardwired, however, photos show a PCB trace style antenna. Please clarify the antenna type. Response: The test report has been revised to show that it is a PCB trace style antenna. 3) The “Instruction to the User” statement that is required in the owner’s manual is missing the statement “which can be verified by turning the equipment off and on”. Please submit a corrected owner’s manual with the corrected “Instruction to the User” statement. Response: The remote control RF Tx and uC clock turn off automatically if there is no key press. This is essentially the equivalent of turning the remote on/off to determine if it is causing harmful interference. In short, the turning on/off is a normal operational function of the remote when a customer presses and releases keys. This is why this statement was not included. 4) The file for the internal photos is too large. Please reduce the size of the file to less than 3 Mb and re-submit. Response: The Internal Photos have been split up so 307582602 that each file is less than 3 MB.
