These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. IEEE 802.11 b or 802.11 g operation of this product in the U.S.A. is firmware‐limited to channels 1 through 11. IMPORTANT NOTE: FCC Radiation Exposure Statement: This equipment complies with FCC radiation exposure limits set forth for an uncontrolled environment. This equipment should be installed and operated with minimum distance 20cm between the radiator & your body. This transmitter must not be co‐located or operating in conjunction with any other antenna or transmitter. The availability of some specific channels and/or operational frequency bands is country dependent and is firmware programmed at the factory to match the intended destination. The firmware setting is not accessible by the end user. Wireless 5 GHz Band Statements: As the Access Point can operate in the 5150‐5250 MHz frequency band it is limited by the FCC to indoor use only so as to reduce the potential for harmful interference to co‐channel Mobile Satellite systems. High power radars are allocated as primary users (meaning they have priority) of the 5250‐5350 MHz 3 and 5650‐5850 MHz bands. These radars could cause interference and /or damage to the access point when used in Canada. Wireless 4.9 GHz Band Statements: (please refer to Appendix B for detailed limitation) Installation and operation requires an approved license from the FCC. This device is intended only for OEM integrators under the following conditions: 1) The antenna must be installed such that 20 cm is maintained between the antenna and users, and 2) The transmitter module may not be co‐located with any other transmitter or antenna, 3) For all products market in US, OEM has to limit the operation channels in CH1 to CH11 for 2.4G bands by supplied firmware programming tool. OEM shall not supply any tool or info to the end‐user regarding to Regulatory Domain change. 4) Due to the involvement of FCC part 90(Y) 4.9G safety band operation, the end product must be professional installed and can not be marketed to the general public. As long as 4 conditions above are met, further transmitter test will not be required. However, the OEM integrator is still responsible for testing their end‐product for any additional compliance requirements required with this module installed (for example, digital device emissions, PC peripheral requirements, etc.). IMPORTANT NOTE: In the event that these conditions can not be met (for example certain laptop configurations or co‐location with another transmitter), then the FCC authorization is no longer considered valid and the FCC ID can not be used on the final product. In these circumstances, the OEM integrator will be responsible for re‐evaluating the end product (including the transmitter) and obtaining a separate FCC authorization. End Product Labeling This transmitter module is authorized only for use in device where the antenna may be installed such that 20 cm may be maintained between the antenna and users. The final end product must be labeled in a visible area with the following: “Contains FCC ID: NKRDCMA82”. Manual Information To the End User The OEM integrator has to be aware not to provide information to the end user regarding how to install or remove this RF module in the user’s manual of the end product that integrates this module. FCC ID: NKRDCMA82 Report No. RF951124L01 Modular Approval Request Letter Advance Data Technology Feb. 08, 2007 Dear Application Examiner, Wistron NeWeb Corp.’s High Powered 802.11a/g WLAN Mini-PCI 3A, FCC ID: NKRDCMA82, would like to have your authorization as a modular approval. The requirements of Public Notice DA00-1407 have been met and shown on the following statements. 1. “The modular transmitter must have its own RF shielding.” The radio portion of this module has been shielded, please see exhibition External Photo. 2. “The modular transmitter must have buffered modulation/data inputs.” The EUT has buffered data inputs, it is integrated in chip AR5414A. 3. “The modular transmitter must have its own power supply regulation.” The chips RF converter which will influence the frequency radiation, have to be 1.8VDC powered. The PCMCIA interface provides 3.3VDC, so there are regulators in front of these chips, the part number of this regulator is RT9266PE. 4. “The modular transmitter must comply with the antenna requirements of section 15.203 and 15.204(C).” The EUT meets the FCC antenna requirements. The spurious emission, unique antenna connector and photo of antennas are shown in the test report. 5. “The modular transmitter must be tested in a stand-alone configuration” The EUT was placed on an extended card which connected to Notebook Computer as a stand-alone configuration. The EUT was tested via the outside a Notebook Computer. Please see section Photographs of Test Configuration in the test report. 6. “The modular transmitter must be labeled with its own FCC ID number.” Please see exhibition Label Sample for the FCC ID of this module. And also in the exhibition Users Manual, there are instructions give to the OEM on how to label the end product. Detail instructions for maintaining compliance are given in the Users Manual. 8. “The modular transmitter must comply with any applicable RF exposure requirements.” The EUT is compliant with all applicable RF exposure requirements. These provisions are not intended to preclude the transmission of control or signaling information or the use of repetitive codes used by certain digital technologies to complete frame or burst intervals. Applicants shall include in their application for equipment authorization a description of hoe this requirement is met. Data transmission is always initiated by software, which is then pass down through the MAC, through the digital and analog baseband, and finally to the RF chip. Several special packets (ACKs, CTS, PSPoll, etc...) are initiated by the MAC. There are the only ways the digital baseband portion will turn on the RF transmitter, which it then turns off at the end of the packet. Therefore, the transmitter will be on only while one of the aforementioned packets are being transmitted.

The limit for Maximum Permissible Exposure (MPE) specified in FCC 1.1310 is followed. The Gain of the antenna used in this product is measured in a Fully Anechoic Chamber (FAC) calibrated for antenna measurement in ADT, and also the maximum total power input to the antenna is measured. Through the Friis transmission formula and the maximum gain of the antenna, we can calculate the distance, away from the product, where the limit of MPE is reached. Although the Friis transmission formula is a far field assumption, the calculated result of that is an over-prediction for near field power density. We will take that as the worst case to specify the safety range. 2.
