Introduction Thank you for purchasing the IEEE802.11b WLAN miniPCI that provides the easiest way to wireless networking. This OEM Installation Manual contains detailed instructions in the operation of this product. Please keep this manual for future reference. System Requirements l A Personal Computer contains: - 32 MB memory or greater - 300 MHz processor or higher l Microsoft ® Win ™ 98SE/ME/2000/ XP 5 2. Hardware Installation & Antenna Information l Module is installed in the Personal Computer, located either under the keypad or on the bottom side of the Personal Computer (see the following diagrams). l Antennas are embedded in the top corners of the panel (see the two circles shown below) Important Note: This module is restricted to mobile configuration. The antennas of module should be installed and operated with minimum distance 20cm between the radiator and all persons. This transmitter must not be co-located or operating in conjunction with any other antenna or transmitter. The module is for OEM installation only and can not be sold to end user directly. Only the antenna types listed below can be used. 1. CA8-I (WNC) 2. 5600 (CLEVO) 3. 888E (CLEVO) 4. M300N (CLEVO) 6 Caution !! (1). This module cannot be bound in a tablet computer for RF exposure issues. (See label 1) (2). Due to the RF exposure issues, this module can be used in a laptop computer in normal operation, but cannot be used when it is put above the lap and the LCD screen is in the closed position. (See label 2) Label 1 Label 2 The device can’t be operated above the lap when the LCD is closed 7 (3). This module must be labeled with FCC ID. (See label 3) (4). If the FCC ID is not visible when the module is installed inside another device, then the outside of device must also display a label referring to the enclosed module. The exterior label can be “ Contains Transmitter Module FCC ID: NKREM200B” or similar wording. (See label 4) Please put Label 2 & Label 4 to the enclosure of end product to note the end user. Double click the shortcut icon of “IEEE802.11b WLAN miniPCI Utility” on the desktop, and the “IEEE802.11b WLAN miniPCI Utility” window will appear. 2. In the Windows System Tray, there is a communication-status icon that indicates different connection statuses by showing different colors. Green communication-status icon indicates the presence of a successful connection, and your network connection process is complete. 3. Red communication-status icon indicates that no connection is present. In this case, please go to “SiteSurvey” page and wait for a second (or click “Refresh” button) to get a list of all available networks. 4. From the …

The statement is listed below: 1. “The modular transmitter must have its own RF shielding.” :The radio portion of this module has been shielded, please see the attached photo “Shielding”. 2. “The modular transmitter must have buffered modulation/data inputs.” The EUT has buffered data inputs, it is integrated in chip RTL8180L.(Please see the schematic file) 3. “The modular transmitter must have its own power supply regulation.” The transmitter is a homodyne structure, and the baseband / rf modulator needs 3.0 V DC power supply. The mini-PCI interface provides 3.3V DC power supply, so there is a 3.3/3.0 DC regulator on the module, and the part number of this regulator is XC6209B302MR. Please see the attached photo “Regulator”. 4. “The modular transmitter must comply with the antenna requirements of section 15.203 and 15.204(c).” The EUT meets the FCC antenna requirements. The spurious emission, unique antenna connector and photos of antennas are showed in the test report. 5. “The modular transmitter must be tested in a stand-alone configuration”. The EUT is tested in a stand-alone configuration via a PCI extender board. The EUT is outside the notebook PC chassis using the extender board to extend the EUT outside the computer chassis. Detail instructions for maintaining compliance are given in the manual. 8. “The modular transmitter must comply with any applicable RF exposure requirements.” The EUT is compliant with the applicable RF exposure requirements. RF Exposure is addressed in the MPE test report. This request for modular approval is restricted to applications in mobile Host configurations only. This means you will have to provide a separate document for this operational description, not just an operational description as part of a response. Please provide the operational description as a separate file. Please note that the attestation letter for modular approval must also request modular approval. Usually the attestation letter states how it complies with each of the 8 requirements individually, not just that it complies. Also, since this is restricted to mobile applications, the request should address this fact. A simple sentence at the end stating something to the affect as, “This request for modular approval is restricted to applications in mobile Host configurations only.” Please note that the application is still not in compliance with all 8 modular requirements. Your manual still does not meet requirement 6 of the docket. Item 6 clearly states, “ The modular transmitter must be labeled with its own FCC ID number, and, if the FCC ID is not visible when the module is installed inside another device, then the outside of the device into which the module is installed must also display a label referring to the enclosed module. This exterior label can use wording such as the following: “Contains Transmitter Module FCC ID: XYZMODEL1” or “Contains FCC ID: XYZMODEL1.” Any similar wording that expresses the same meaning may be used. The Grantee may either provide such a label, an example of which must be included in the application for equipment authorization, or, must provide adequate instructions along with the module which explain this requirement. Simply because the antenna(s) are in the top of the LCD does not mean it is mobile. The new technology laptops can, in some instances, be converted to a tablet PC. This device must be restricted from use in such a Host since this would make the device portable because it would put the antenna(s) in the LCD within 5cm of the body when used in the lap. During the test, the adapter was tested outside the notebook PC chassis using a PCI extender board to extend the adapter outside the computer chassis. The adapter was then connected to a set of antennas via its transmit and receive Hirose connectors. Operational Description

Operational Description For EM-200B The IEEE802.11b Mini PCI WLAN adapter is embedded 2.4GHz Wireless Local Area Network Mini-PCI adapter. The channel and the operation frequency are located on the free licensed ISM band from 2412MHz to 2462MHz, and different Modulations are applied to different select data rate mechanism. The DBPSK modulation operates at 1Mbps low date transmit rate, the DQPSK modulation operates at 2Mbps standard date transmit rate, the CCK operates at 5.5 medium and 11Mbps high date transmit rate respectively. The adapter is 60mm x 45mm in dimension, and mainly contains a 128-pin MAC controller and a fully duplex RF transceiver inside. The fully duplex RF transceiver is a direct conversion structure, and the chip of Philips SA2400ABE which needs 3.0V power supply is used. The RF transceiver is connected to a set of antennas via its transmit and receive Hirose connectors. The MAIN connector is linked to the main antenna which transmits and receives the RF signal for data communication, and the AUX connector is linked to the aux antenna which only receives the RF signal. For reducing the fading effect, the antenna diversity is applied. The distance between the main antenna and the aux antenna should be kept a half of the wave length. The Mini-PCI form factor is designed for notebook computer systems where overall thickness must be kept to an absolute minimum. When the PCI interface connects the WLAN adapter and notebook PC for baseband data communicating, the adapter could be bound inside the notebook PC, and a high frequency coaxial cable along the casing links the adapter and the antenna from the notebook bottom to the top seam of the LCD plane. The distance among the antenna, the adapter, and the human body would be large enough for anti-interference and anti- exposure in normal operation.
