Such modifications could void the user's authority to operate the equipment . 3 4 Keypad Layout CONTROL LOCATIONS GETTING STARTED Overview & Battery Installation Getting Started-OverviewThis is what MASTERCONTROL™ RF10 is all about!The RF10 is designed to operate up to 8 differentAudio/Video Components and is pre-programmed tooperate virtually all brands of TV, VCR, DVD and CDPlayers, Cable Set Top Boxes, Satellite Receivers, TiVoand other DVRs, Audio Components, Tape Decks,Multimedia PCs, XM Radio, Ipod, X-Box, Lighting Controlsand other custom installation products. It also offers animpressive lineup of special features designed to provideyou with many time-saving conveniences and enhanceyour overall entertainment experience. However, westrongly recommend that you fully complete all of theBasic Setup steps before proceeding to customize yourRF10 with any of the special advanced features.Battery InstallationThe very first step is to insertthe four AAA batteries thatare included in the packageinto the battery compartmentlocated in the back of theremote. Just press the taband lift off the cover. Pleasebe sure to insert the batteriescorrectly as you see in thediagram. Remember, there is a positive and negative end to each battery and youcan tell by the + (positive) and– (negative) symbols. Oncethe batteries are correctlyinstalled, replace the cover.Now you’re ready to start! + + + + - - - - The SHIFT ButtonPress SHIFT to access a second command for eachCOMPONENT button. While RF10 is in SHIFT mode, thedisplay on the LCD screen will blink. The buttons labeledwith white text on the case, indicate just some of the sec-ondary commands available when you are in SHIFT mode.Note: If you don’t press a button within 10 seconds, the RF10 will exit SHIFTmode and return to normal operation.NOTE: The AUDIO COMPONENT has a unique SHIFT functionality. It cansend input commands to you’re A/V Surround Sound receiver by pressingthe COMPONENT buttons after SHIFT is selected.The LIGHT ButtonThe fully backlit keypad makes the RF10 easy to use in the dark or dim lighting conditions. Simply press theLIGHT button to backlight all the keypad buttons and LCD screen. To turn off the backlight, press the LIGHTbutton again, or just wait ten seconds (the backlight automatically shuts itself off). Lights out!Try it out! Activating Component Commands –Simple, Easy, IntuitiveOnce you’ve programmed RF10 for your Components, allyou have to do to operate a specific Component is pressthe desired COMPONENT button. For example, press theTV COMPONENT Button. The top of the screen changesto TV. Now all of the buttons on the RF10 will work yourTV. To operate another Component, simply press one ofthe other eight COMPONENT buttons.
