Radiometrics Midwest Corporation (815) 293-0772 β [email protected] Users Manual Equipment Tested (Company, Model)FCC ID: DCSI, Y72140-1PN3Y72140-1 Instructions for Transmitters 1. Mount RF transmitter module on side of structure with the cable going out the bottom of the unit. The battery should already be connected from the factory. 2. Connect dial encoder. 3. The RF module will βwake upβ and detect the dial encoder within one hour and start to transmit information once an hour thereafter. 4. Each transmission will take approx 0.48 seconds. NOTE: The RF transmitter module will not start transmitting data until the dial encoder is detected. NOTE: The RF module will transmit an internally generated dial encoder number once an hour as soon as the battery is connected. NOTE: Changes not expressly approved by DCSI could void the user's authority to operate this equipment.

Radiometrics Midwest Corporation (815) 293-0772 β [email protected] OPERATIONAL DESCRIPTION Equipment Tested (Company, Model)FCC ID: DCSI, Y72140-1PN3Y72140-1 1 OPERATIONAL DESCRIPTION: Y72140-1 Where Used: The device will be placed in residential areas on the sides of houses/buildings. Connection: Once the unit is connected to the service (dial encoder or pulser), the transmissions will begin. Frequency of Transmitter: 916.5MHz Frequency of Transmissions: The transmitter sends a packet of information once every hour. Transmission Length: Each packet is approximately 0.48 seconds. General: The transmitter unit reads the dial encoder or pulser from a residential gas or water meter. Then transmits the information to the receiver for billing. The service the customer is subscribing is: water and gas utility service meters. The transmitted dial encoder reading or pulser count is used by the utility to bill customers. The device is battery operated. It does not have provisions to be connected to a battery charger.

The detailed test results are presented in a separate section. The following is a summary of the test results. Emissions Tests Results Environmental PhenomenaFrequency RangeBasic StandardTest Result RF Radiated Emissions30-9200 MHzFCC Part 15.249Pass 2 EQUIPMENT UNDER TEST (EUT) DETAILS 2.1 EUT Description The EUT is a 916.5 MHz Transmitter, Model Y72140-1, manufactured by Distribution Control Systems, Inc. The EUT was in good working condition during the test, with no known defects. In order to fully test the EUT, the device was modified by the manufacturer to provide a transmission once a second instead of once an hour, as soon as it is powered. The EUT transmission is otherwise not changed. 2.1.1 Duty Cycle of Transmitter Frequency of Transmissions: The transmitter sends a packet of information once every hour. Transmission Length: Each packet is approximately 0.48 seconds. Baud Rate: Each packet is sent at 2400 bps. Duty Cycle of Each Packet: Each packet is Manchester encoded. Which means every β1β is encoded to β10β and every β0β is encoded to β01β. Therefore, the duty cycle of each packet is 50/50. Conclusion: A 50% duty cycle. 50% = 6 dB Peak to Average factor 2.2 Tested System Configuration The system was configured for testing in a typical fashion. The EUT was placed on an 80-cm high, nonconductive teβ¦
