User’s Manual USB Storage Device (M/N: DIO-FD2D) FCC NOTICE THIS DEVICE COMPLIES WITH PART 15 OF THE FCC RULES. OPERATION IS SUBJECT TO THE FOLLOWING TWO CONDITION: (1) THIS DEVICE MAY NOT CAUSE HARMFUL INTERFERENCE, AND (2) THIS DEVICE MUST ACCEPT ANY INTERFERENCE RECEIVED, INCLUDING INTERFERENCE THAT MAY CAUSE UNDERSIRED OPERATION. FlashDio™ support both IBM PC/AT compatible computers and Apple computers; OS Windows 98/98SE, 2000, ME, and XP; Mac OS 8.6 or higher and Linux 2.4.x and above. It operates without external power by conveniently connecting to USB (Universal Serial Bus) port directly. Save it: FlashDio™ is a portable Hard-Drive so you can save, transfer, or carry just about anything from Data, Presentation files, large files, Music files, to Video files. FlashDio™ can transfer data at the speed of USB! Convenient / Portable: FlashDio™ is so small and convenient; you can carry it on your key ring, around your neck, or slip it into your shirt pocket, and take it anywhere, anytime. No driver: FlashDio™ requires "NO DRIVER" for Windows ME, Windows 2000, or Windows XP, and all Mac O/S above Mac 8.6. You simply "plug and play." (Driver (included with FlashDio™) is required for Windows 98 or Windows 98/SE and Mac 8.6). Security Password: FlashDio™ comes with a Security Encryption Software that will protect information you may have stored in FlashDio™ from being accessed by unwanted parties. Solid: FlashDio™ is highly resilient to dust, shakes, shocks, and vibration and uses "Flash memory" to store data, thus, it is magnetic fields proof and can retain data for over 10 years. Cross Platform: FlashDio™ has the ability to cross platform to nearly all makes and models of PCs, Laptops, and O/S, including Windows and Macs. Memory: FlashDio™ comes in the widest range of memories including: 64MB, 128MB, 256MB, 512MB, 1GB, and 2GB!! Hot Pluggable: FlashDio™, like floppy disk, is "Hot pluggable." This means you can plug and unplug, connect and disconnect FlashDio™ without having to reboot the computer. Just plug and play, it's that easy. No power needed: "No Batteries," "No External Power" required. Also, unlike CDs, standard hard disks, or floppy disks where power is required to spin the disk, FlashDio™ has no moving parts and only uses minimal power for reading and writing data, hence minimizing impact on battery time on such devices like laptops. HOW TO PLUG AND PLAY NOTE: 1. If your computer operates under OS Windows 98/98SE, or Mac OS 8.6, please read " Installation instructions for Device Driver" first, before using FlashDio™. 2. You must first turn on the computer before connecting FlashDio™ to your computer. WARNING: Do not force the USB connector of FlashDio™ into the USB port. Please take gentle care when plugging and unplugging all connectors. 1. When FlashDio™ is connected to the computer via USB port, red light will blink at the mid section of FlashDio™ signaling "ready to operate." 2. When reading or writing data, the light will change to RED. WARNING: Do not disconnect FlashDio™ from the computer or pull out FlashDio™ from USB port of your computer, or USB hub connected to your computer whilst the light is signaling RED. This may cause corruption or lose of data. INSTALLATION: FOR WINDOWS 2000/ME/XP AND MAC OS 9.0 AND ABOVE FlashDio™ does not require driver installation for OS Windows 2000/ ME/ XP, and Mac OS 9.0 and above. Just plug FlashDio™ to the USB port of your computer and 'Windows 2000/ME/XP and Mac OS 9.0 and above' will automatically install the software from its own operating system. WARNING: Do not install 'Installation Driver' if you are using OS Windows 2000/ME/XP or Mac OS 9.0 and above. This may cause disruptions or collapse of your current Operating System. FOR WINDOWS 98/98SE USERS 1. Turn on your computer and start Windows 98 or Windows 98SE. 2. Connect FlashDio™ to the USB port of your computer or USB hub already connected to your computer. 3.
