American Telecommunications Certification Body Inc. 6731 Whittier Ave, McLean, VA 22101 April 10, 2002 RE: FCC ID: QAAMI2410RX I have a few comments on this Application. 1 Please note that your operational description is not clear. It appears that the description is saying that an ASK modulated signal is being radiated at 433 MHz through this device. This is not allowed under 15.231 at the levels measured in your report. 15.231(a) is for periodic operation only. 15.231(a) states, โ€˜Except as shown in paragraph (e) of this section, the intentional radiator is restricted to the transmission of a control signal such as those used with alarm systems, door openers, remote switches, etc.... Continuous transmissions, such as voice or video, and data transmissions are not permitted.โ€ This means that absolutely no data except that which initiates a response in the receiver may be transmitted under this section. Data may only be transmitted under 15.231(e). However, under this section the limit is significantly lower than that of 15.231(a/b). Please clarify if this device transmits ASK modulated data or only a control code to initiate a response in a receiver. 2 If the device transmits only control codes, the report does not indicate that a sampling of these codes was performed to determine the worse case code arrangement. Please provide evidence that an attempt was made to determine the worse case code. 3 Please provide the calibration dates for the measurement equipment used in the test report for this device. (2) This unit also receive IR signal, for example; IR is from DVD remote controller, and transmit a 433MHz RF signal to another 433MHz receiver ( that is build in 2.4 GHz Transmitting unit). (3) This 433MHz RF signal is for Channel selection controlling, the transmitting is designed with auto disable function within one second.

This would indicate that, inspite of the Report comment that the device only transmits control codes, there is a possible capability of this 433 MHz transmitter to transmit audio and video signals. The RX transmitter module is even called the "AVMODULE_RX". Thus further indicating Audio/Video capability. This is not allowed. Please address this concern by showing how these audio and video inputs are deactivated and only control codes are transmitted, or please show on the schematic how they are not applicable to the 433MHz control code only transmission. However, there is still a point of confusion on this device. The operational description states that the RX transmitter sends a 433 MHz control code, however, the block diagram only shows the receive antenna for this 433 MHz signal. To further cloud the issue, While this block diagram shows only the receive portion of the 433 MHz, the schematic diagram show both audio and video inputs of what appears to be the final transmit section of the RX. It is not clear from the schematic nor the block diagram what the frequencies are. CFR47 2.1033 states the following must be provided, "A block diagram showing the frequency of all oscillators in the device. The signal path and frequency shall be indicated at each block." Neither the block diagram nor the schematic shows this information. Please provide this information so processing of the application can proceed. The 433.92MHz RF signal is only for sending the control code to initiate the link function between the transmitter and receiver. The AC power conducted emissions was invested over the frequency range from 0.45MHz to 30MHz using a receiver bandwidth of 9kHz.
