Introduction The VG-100 is a single port Telephone Adaptor for Voice over IP (VoIP), and it support H.323, SIP, and MGCP Protocols. Connecting to the Internet with an analog telephone set, the VG-100 can make a voice call over the Internet from anywhere to anyone. With portable and user friendly design, the VG-100 is very suitable for ITSP (Internet Telephony Service Providers) customers and SOHO users to make a voice call on the Internet, especially during traveling. Note that each VG-100 will need an IP address for its own use. Sometimes, the Media Access Control (MAC) address (indicated at the bottom of VG100) is needed for your local ISP/ITSP to configure your subscription. You may provide this MAC address to your local ITSP. 2. Features The VG-100 VoIP TA is equipped with one RJ11 connector for POTS, and one RJ45 connector for Ethernet Connection. Three LED indicators; POWERLANand PHONE provide the status to the user. 3. Standard Compliance The VG-100 VoIP TA supports the following standard specifications for the function of VoIP; IETF RFC 2543 [SIP: Session Initiation Protocol] 1999 ITU-T G.711 ITU-T G.723.1 ITU-T G.729A/B 4. Packing Contents Inside the package you should find: (1) One VG-100 VoIP TA (2) One DC Power Adaptor (3) One Phone cable (4) One LAN cable Please check if the packing is damaged before unpacking or any component is missing. If so, please contact the manufacturer. 1-4 5. Installation 1. Connect VG-100 LAN port to Ethernet using the Category 3 or Category 5 LAN cable. 2. Connect VG-100 PHONE port to a regular POTS using the phone cable . 3. Connect the Power Adaptor to the POWER outlet. 4. All the LED indicators will be flashing twice, then turning off except the POWER LED will remain constantly on, and the VG-100 will enter into the Normal mode operation. Note that if the LED indicators are not function properly, please check if the power adaptor is connected properly. 6. Configurations and Operations There are two operation modes for VG-100; one is for Configuration mode and the other for Normal mode. You need to configure VG-100 first before making a VoIP call. The configuration of VG-100 can be made from the telephone set and will be stored internally and remain the same until next configuration update. Once VG-100 is properly configured, you may make VoIP call anytime when VG-100 is in Normal mode. 6.1 Configuration Mode 1) Connect an analog telephone set to VG-100, and turn on the VG-100. Pick up the phone cradle, the PHONE LED will be constantly ON and you should hear the dial tone. 2) You need to enter the VG-100 IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway IP address as the following, for example, Press #7211020102004 if the VG-100 IP address is 211.20.102.4 Press #8255255255000 for the subnet mask (normally 255.255.255.0) Press #9201020102001 if the Gateway(Router) IP address is 201.20.102.1 3) After entering each item, you will hear the voice prompt for confirmation. You may also replay the voice confirmations as the following; Press #7# for the stored VG-100 IP address Press #8# for the stored subnet mask Press #9# for the stored Gateway IP address 1-5 6.2 Operation Mode After the configurations, you may now start making VOIP call by the IP address directly from the telephone set. 6.2.1 To Make Regular IP calls to another Internet Phones 1) Pick up the phone cradle, and you should hear the dial tone. 2) Press the IP address of the party you want to call as the following, for example, Press 201023005014 if IP address of the called party is 201.23.5.14 In a moment, you should hear the call progress tone (CPT), and wait for the called party to answer. 6.2.2 Redial the last IP call Pick up the phone cradle, and press *0 for redialing the last IP call. In a moment, you should hear the call progress tone(CPT), and wait for the called party to answer. 6.2.3 Memory Dial for IP call There are 6 stored IP memories can be used for IP calls. To make Memory Dial, simply Press *N for memory dialing the IP address stored in the Nth memory set. ( N=1~6 ) For example, you may press *1 for dialing the IP stored in the 1 st memory set. 6.2.4 Store the IP address for Memory Dialing To store the Nth memory set ( N=1~6 ) for IP address, for example, Press #N061219023102 if the VG-100 IP address is 61.219.23.102 To replay the voice confirmations for the Nth memory stored IP address ( N=1~6 ), simply Press #N# for the Nth memory stored IP address 1-6 NOTE: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures: -- Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna. -- Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver. -- Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is co…
