THE HELPMATE Thank you for choosing the Helpmate. The Helpmate serves as a perfect personal safety system that is designed for the elderly, disabled persons, and long-term care patients in the household who require the assistance of their caregiver or family member. The Helpmate features a remote call unit that activates the receiver when the call button is pressed β the caregiver can immediately provide assistance to the user upon hearing a continuous loud beep and observing the flashing lights on the receiver. Please read this Instruction Manual thoroughly before using the product. Keep this manual in a convenient place for future reference. PRODUCT OVERVIEW Call Unit Receiver Style 1: Tea Pot with clock Style 2: Fishman Style 3: Chef INSTALLING BATTERIES The Call Unit uses one 9V battery and the Receiver uses three AA batteries. To install or replace the batteries, please follow these steps: 1. Unscrew the battery cover on the Call unit/Receiver. 2. Insert the batteries observing the correct polarity. 3. Replace the battery cover and tighten the screw. (To install or replace the batteries and to set the time for teapot style clock, open the clock face by simply turning the clock face to the right. Insert the batteries and set the time by turning the knob at the back until the correct time is selected. When finished, replace the clock face and turn it until the arrows align.) ** Change the batteries when the signal is unclear or the system does not appear to be functioning properly. **Alkaline batteries are recommended. THE CALL UNIT/THE RECEIVER The Call Unit can be attached to any convenient location (preferably near the user) using Velcro tape or by mounting it on a wall with a screw. The Receiver should be placed near the caregiver so that the beeping sound or flashing lights can be heard or seen when the Receiver is activated. HOW TO USE 1. Place the Call Unit near the user and the receiver near the caregiver. 2. When the user requires assistance, press the Call button on the Call unit until the LED light blink. 3. A light will flash and loud continuous beeping will sound from the Receiver, signaling that the user requires immediate attention. 4. The caregiver can turn off the beeping sound and flashing light by pressing the button on the Receiver. In this case, place the unit close to a window so that it faces the general direction of the transmitter.
