QUICK START GUIDE / USERMANUAL USB-FLASH-DRIVE cocos USB-CRYSTAL-DRIVES 1. USB-Flash-Drive performance 1.1 USB2.0 compliant, hot plug&play. 1.2 No external power is required, powered by USB-bus directly. 1.3 High capacity data storage. 1.4 Compatible between different operating systems. 1.5 Electronic storage device, no mechanical components, shake-protection, electromagnetic wave protect. 1.6 Easily portable. 1.7 This device has an integrated strong LED-light which will automatically flash during usage. 2. System requirements 2.1 Computer system requirement: IBM PC/AT or compatible desktop, notebook or Mac- computer with USB-port. 2.2 Operation-system requirement: Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Mac 0s9. X or above, Linux Kernel 2.4 or above 3. Software installation 3.1 Ensure your computer supports USB-port. 3.2 Ensure the USB-port works correctly. 3.3 Insert the USB-Flash-Drive into the USB-port of your computer. The system will setup the USB-Flash-Drive automatically. After that you will find a new icon named ́Removable Disc ́ or ́Local Disc ́ on ́My Computer ́The USB-Flash-Drive is the last drive of the operation. 4. Basic Functions 4.1 USB Hot Plug & Play: after the USB-Flash-Drive was inserted into the USB-port the disk-icon Will be shown on the file-manager-window (Windows) or Desktop (Mac) 4.2 File read/write: after plug-in, the USB-Flash-Drive can be read or written as floppy or hard disks. Page -2- Page -2- 4. Notices 4.1 The USB-Flash-Drive is online and ready whilst the LED-light is flashing. Than the USB-Flash- Drive is in read-/write-processing-mode and should not be unplugged from the computer. 4.2 Please wait 5-10 seconds between plugging-in and unplugging. 4.3 Eject/Safe Remove and Hot Unplug: The USB-Flash-Drive can not be hot unplugged if no write action is performed to it. However, if data has been moved to the USB-Flash-Drive, then Eject or Save-removal- action is needed to prevent the data loss. Eject can be used to ensure the data integrity. Under Windows, select the disk icon and click the right button of the mouse, then select “eject”. This will empty the write-cache. Now it is save to remove the device. The save-removal-icon can be found in the ́Windows ́-notification-area. Double click the “safe-removal”-icon and the “Unplug or Eject Hardware” window will be popped up. After selecting the device to be removed and slick “Stop“-button and the device can be unplugged from the USB-port safely. 5. Safety Instructions Please read this chapter carefully and observe all listed notes. This ensures a reliable operation and long life expectancy of your USB-Flash-Drive. Keep these instructions with your device at all times. Data Security Note: Every time you update your data make back-up copies on an external storage medium. The supplier does not assume eliability for data loss or damage to data storage units, and no claims can be accepted for damages resulting from the loss of data or consequential losses. 6. Operational Safety - Follow the operating instructions of your computer. - Keep the device away from humidity and avoid vibration, dust, heat, and direct sunlight, in order to prevent operational interference. - Never open the case. This would void all warranty claims and it could possibly cause the destruction of the unit. - Do not allow children to play with electrical devices without supervision. Children do not always recognize possible dangers. Page -3- Page -3- - Before operating the device after a transport, allow it to become acclimatized. High temperature and humidity deviations can lead through condensation to moisture build up, which can cause an electrical short. Fasten down the plug cover before transportation. - The USB drive can only be opened and repaired by authorized service technicians. - When cleaning the USB-Flash-Drive avoid cleaning sprays and all kinds of solutions containing alcohol or other flammable substances on to the USB drive. - Avoid overheating the USB drive as this can shorten the lifetime of the product. - Check the USB ports of the computer to be used for any damage and slide the USB-Flash-Drive back into the body of the unit when not in use. - Protect your USB drive from high humidity, direct sunlight and very high or very low temperatures. - Do not smoke in the direct vicinity of the USB-Flash-Drive. - Do not place any fluids on or near the USB-Flash-Drive. - If the USB drive is moved from a colder to warmer environment, it may be subject to condensation. Wait until the temperature of the USB-Flash-Drive has adjusted and it is totally dry before using it. Electromagnetic Compatibility - While connecting the device, the guidelines for electromagnetic compatibility must be followed. Keep At least 1 meter distance from high frequency and magnetic sources of interference (TV, loudspeakers, mobile phones, etc.), to avoid operation disruption and data loss. Cleaning Instructions Normally cleaning of this device is unnecessary. - Attention! This device does not contain parts that must be serviced or cleaned. - Make sure the USB-Flash-Drive does not become contaminated. Do not use solvents, corrosives, or spray cleansers. If necessary, clean the casing with a moist cloth. Recycling Device At the end of its life, the appliance must not be disposed of in household rubbish.
