MACRONIX MCX-608 CONNECTING THE WORLD GSM900/DCS1800/PCS1900 Tri-Band Cellular Phone __________________________ User Guide 2 Macronix MCX-608User Guide Body-worn RF exposure statement: This device was tested for typical body-worn operations with the back of the phone kept 1.5 cm from the body. To comply with FCC RF exposure requirements, a minimum separation distance of 1.5 cm must be maintained between the user’s body and the back of the phone, including the antenna, whether extended or retracted. Third-party belt clips, holsters, and similar accessories containing metallic components should not be used. Body-worn accessories that cannot maintain 1.5 cm separation distance between the user’s body and the back of the phone, and have not been tested for typical body-worn operations may not comply with FCC RF exposure limits and should be avoided. 3 Macronix MCX-608User Guide Contents Safety Overview.............................................................................. 6 Diagram of your Phone .................................................................... 7 Parts of the phone ........................................................................... 8 Quick Start Guide............................................................................ 9 A. Pls kindly review the attached files. Thanks, Claire 04U3001-2 Revised SAR Report_1... 1_System Performance Check Plo... 2_SAR Test Plots.pdf -----Original Message----- From: Mike Kuo Sent:Wednesday, October 27, 2004 6:05 PM To:Claire Hoque Cc:Thu Chan; Jack He; Sunny Shih Subject:RE: Macronix America Inc., FCC ID: R8QMCX-608, Assessment NO.: AN04T4242, Notice#1 Hi Cliare : Reply to Question #3: Based upon the screen shot, the secondary spot setting does not comply with OET 65 Supplement C guideline. The SAR system was configured with two conditions: within 2 dB of max. peak AND with the peak reading greater than 0.5W/kg. So in order for the probe to detect the secondary peak, both conditions have to be met. Based upon SAR test report, the highest SAR value is reported as 0.704 W/kg @ channel 812 left head tilt position. The 58.5% of 0.704W/kg is 0.411W/kg which is below 0.5W/kg so the secondary peak is not reported. To comply with OET 65 supplement C requirement, please provide secondary hot spot @ channel 812 left head tilt position. Best Regards Mike Kuo -----Original Message----- From: Sent: To: Cc: Subject: Hi Mike, Here are the answers. Question #1: The tune up procedures submitted is labeled with confidential document. However, Tune up procedure is not included in the request for confidentiality letter. Please make necessary correction. <answer>Pls see revised confidentiality letter which includes tune up procedure. << File: Request for Confidentiality(revised).pdf >> Question #2: In the section 2 of Part 24 test report, the upper frequency listed is 1909.9MHz which does not agree with measured frequencies listed in the SAR test report and associated documentation. Please make necessary correction. 2 <answer>Test Report is revised. << File: 04U3001-1 FCC24 REPORT Revised.pdf >> Question #3: In the SAR plots, there are several configuration displayed with multiple peak. As indicated in the SAR plots, the setting of SAR measurement system is configured to detect the secondary hot spot within 2 dB of max. measured Peak. Please provide a screen shot of such setting in DASY 4 system. <answer>Screen shot of DASY4 System setting is attached. << File: Screenshot of DASY4.pdf >> Question #4: User manual does not include RF exposure information about body worn operation. Please provide revised user manual to comply this requirement. <answer>User manual is revised. << File: MCX-608 Revised User Guide_2004-10-27.pdf >> Question #5: Please inform the Class of GSM phone ( A, B or C ). <answer>The phone has no GPRS function, so this question does not apply to this project. Question #6: Please confirm the this device does not capable of GPRS modulation. <answer>GPRS not supported. Thanks, Claire

Power is EIRP. This device contains 900 MHz and 1800 MHz GSM functions that are not operational in U.S. Territories. This filing is only applicable for 1900 MHz PCS operations. This device was tested with a 1.5 cm device-to-body spacing gap and was not tested with any body-worn accessories. Body-worn operations are restricted to belt-clips, holsters or similar accessories that have no metallic component in the assembly and must provide at least 1.5 cm separation between the device, including its antenna whether extended or retracted, and the user body. End-users must be informed of the body-worn operating requirements for satisfying RF exposure compliance. The highest reported SAR values are - Head: 0.704 W/kg; Body-worn: 0.167 W/kg.
